i am new to this stuff, and saw an intake from extremepsi, and was wondering if this will work with my 98 gsx (stock) AND with an intercooler im planning on installing.

INTAKE thats the intake and that with any nitercooler, just to make sure im not buying something that i will have to change out later when i install an intercooler.

If the picture is accurate, that intake will require you to vent your blow-off valve to atmosphere, which is a bad idea. You want one that has a pipe welded in place for the BOV return line. There are several vendors that supply these types of intakes. Finding one shouldn't be too difficult.

this type of stuff confuses me, i want to do an intake, blowoff valve, FMIC, but i dont want to get parts that wont be compatible with others, anyone have any info on what will work with others? thanks for the patience, i know im asking some dumb q's.

Some of the intake pipes have interference issues with the wastegate actuators on some turbos (Dejon intake pipe and 16g turbo for example). Get a good idea of all of your mods and make sure they're compatible before you start buying. If you buy from SBR, extremepsi, turbochargers.com, etc., you can usually email them with questions and have them know the answers, whereas eBay vendors aren't always like that. You can also search the forum and post questions like you just did to find out more.

I'm using the Dejon intake pipe (CIP-2gSy-2.75") which has all of the tubes on it, but you can order it with or without certain tubes (no tubes, BOV only, or all tubes). You need the VC breather nipple, BCS vaccuum line, BOV recirc tube, and EGR nipple (think that's what it's called) if you are otherwise stock. They provide caps for all of the smaller nipples in case you, say, get an MBC and don't need the BCS vac line anymore. The 2.75" part is where it couples to your compressor inlet. If you get a larger turbo with a 3" or larger compressor inlet, you need to get the right size intake pipe. The T25 and T28 turbos have a 2.25" inlet, but they give you an adapter coupler to fill the gap.

If you're not too strapped for cash, you could get a K&N FIPK Gen2 (oval filter). That's what's shown below the CIP-2gS image (the picture of it installed). Nice filter, bolts right on.

Ask and research away, that is what this is here for. I am new also, but this is what I have gathered and done to my car, based on recomendations. First I don't think you need a FMIC yet, the stock SMIC will suffice until you upgrade the turbo(also frees up cash for other mods). I have the GReddy RS BOV (make sure you get the Recirculation kit). When I bought mine I did not install the recirc just to see how it would run, and the car runs like &*%$! I also purchased the GReddy IC piping (upgrade piping for your SMIC,and later is used for a GReddy FMIC, so money not waisted). Then on the intake I have a Injun Pipe and K&N FIPK, but to save money I would go with the above ForcedPerformance and an open element filter. Hope this helps.

OK I have a 1g non-turbo and I have no clue what kind of intake pipe to buy. The ones that I have looked at I can't figure out where the air sensor goes so if somebody could shed some light thank you.

When I had my 3000GT NT, I had a Bomz short ram arm (from throttle body to MAS), and then a K&N FIPK after the MAS. Others correct me if I am wrong but the same would be for your 1g. The only thing you could do better is add a pipe after the MAS to put the Filter outside the engine bay for cold air. Here is a pic of mine. I could not on my 3lgt because of the ABS module.

Extremepsi also sells an intake with a recirculation tube. It looks nearly identical to an Injen intake pipe. The MAS adapter uses a 4" inlet, and thus a 4" inlet filter, which is harder to find. Most auto parts stores that carry cone filters only carry a 3" model, and can't order the larger size. I just order the 4" filters from Extremepsi directly ($15+/- each) in batches of two or three and store the extras.

Here is a link to the Extremepsi intake with recirc tube: http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16345&cat=476&page=1

You can even choose what color couplers you want. I would show you a picture of mine installed on the car, but I'm too ashamed of my POS right now.

Thanks Locutus that helped alot. I had heard before that with a short ram there was really no place for MAS but now I got it thanks. Now Boxx thanks for that link it was great.
