You should be a Progressive agent-you think the same way.
Im sure i'm not the only one here, just the one to mention it.
Just because it 'looks' like a race car, doesnt mean it is. I agree I've modified the appearence of the car, but How can you justify calling my car a race car when it's never been on any track, only car shows.
Your right im stereo typing your car, im sorry it just looked fast to me. Sounded faster after I read your mod list. Is it slow?
From what I've understood; You modify the appearence for shows like I've done, and you modify the engine internals for racing (which I havent done).
People modify the appearence for show, "if you say so". People still race there car without engine internals. Strip or Street.
Whats next?? Are you going to consider an 85 Buick with paint and a body kit a race car because it looks fast, or because his internet name is 85Buick_racer??

Dude common, i wouldn't think it was a race car at all, I would think it was a joke. (what color paint are we talkn?) If his name was 85buick_racer also, id probably make fun of him, unless his car was fast... nah id still make fun of him. I guess its all in taste, ever seen one at a show?
LOL, not trying to flame, but give me a break......
Its ok, we're on the same team. I agreed with you, Progressive sucks, I had problems with them when I was hit by a deer. Yes a deer hit me, how hard is that to believe? To make that story short, All State has been holding my hand ever since, good switch.

I have seen alot of GN's (mid 80's Buicks) at alot of shows and a good portion have been quiet fast. I try not to make fun of cars that could spank me two from sunday. Then I end up the butt of the joke.

Take it down to them again to take pics.

Then take pics of them taking pics... :D
OMFG that's the best solution ever hahahah

Progressive is ass. When my old car was stolen, after paying to replace the seat belts, windows, tires, and everything else needed to bring up the resale value, they accused me of taking the car down to Mexico and abandoning it. ####ers wanted to put me in jail for that shit. #### progressive. I like how they say that you refused to have pictures of the car taken, even after you drove all the way out to east bum#### to have them look at the car. I guess such things as your driving record no longer matter.

so that means that 75% of this board MUST have their insurance canceled because they've been to the RACE TRACK to get legitimate times, and not street race and endanger themselves or others.

Only if you think so. When you "Modify" your car you take the risk, period!
Just like if you ever speed, or change lanes with out signaling you take the risk of getting pulled over.

Never made fun of the car! Do Grand Nationals look cool with body kits on them?.

I canceled Progressive a long time ago when they lied to me about a quote when i first bought my eclipse. I went with geico and every year for the past 3 years it has gone down.

Progressive also told me the insurance was so high on my car because it is the most crashed car in PA. It was higher then a Corvette.

Geico or All State are the best I have seen for our cars.

A cat-back system is not a 75 shot of nitrous. A K&N filter is not a 50-trim turbo. Projector foglights is not a front mounted intercooler.

Modifications are not all the same. They're not all going to turn you from some law-abiding defensive driver into some speed-demon who terrorizes old ladies trying to cross the street. That kind of wrong-headed thinking is why Progressive in their infinite wisdom cancelled 99gst's insurance.

But you said you would. It depends on what you consider a bodykit and your personal prefrence. I think it would look like shit, but someone might think its the cats ass.

The point is that you are making it sound like he deserved to get cancelled becasue an insurance company is ignorant.

I'm a firm believer Allstate is cheap because they tell everyone that makes a claim to f---- off. A woman with Allstate pulled in front of me as I was going through a green light, totalling her car. It was her third totalled car that year, and Allstate wouldn't cover a cent of my repairs because she said it was my fault. You're in good hands, until you're in an accident. State Farm all the way!

Of all those 8 quote requests I faxed out, I received 3 calls back. I choose Allstate. I will save $30/month in the summer and $75/month in the winter making a total of $630 savings per year!!!! Now I'm actually kinda glad Progressive cancelled me. Otherwise, I would've never started shopping around. Now "I'm in good hands" with Allstate.

This thread just gets better and better...

As said before, yes I stereo-typed his car, just like the insurance company did. Though i never said he deserved to be cancelled by the insurance company.

Infinite wisdom is what keeps car insurances in business.

This is how I came up with the logic of the stereo-type that I did.
Name, cars looks, Mod list (has anyone looked at it, its a nice list), driver has been in an acciedent with it (if the insurance company knows?).

Sordof sounds like. I did something stupid, was put on probabtion, told I can't drink. Someone calls my po, tells him im drinking. Comes to my house, i havn't been drinking, finds booze in the house though. Revokes my probabtion.

Like I said before this thread sucks, not just cuz people keep attacking me  but, we all know insurance company's suck (at least I hope)! Common realy what can be done about it? Nothing except move onto another insurance provider.

I had the same problem when my integra was rear ended by a person with all-state who was rear ended with a hit and run driver.

I recently made the switch because they seem to treat their policy holders a little better I think and the money I saved. I think in your instance you could've easily fought that if you had let your insurance company along with a detailed police report. The insured/insurance company can never deny that kind of fault/claim (evidence conclusive) without a lawsuit.

Guess it varies depending on where you live. If you saw my earlier post, you'd understand what I mean. I've had no problems at all. I also had a police report as evidence, which helps i'm sure.

Michigan is the only state of the 48 that Progressive insures that has guidelines for modified vehicles. They won't insure any vehicle with aftermarket springs, altered steering geometry, oversized tires, or engine/drivetrain mods.

If you'd have been in a different state, you wouldn't have been nonrenewed.

Congrats on saving money, though. Always a plus. :thumb:

It's not slow, but quicker than many/most 4 cyl. When I was there to get the pics taken, it still had the T25 on it. So, the last time they saw it, it was kinda slow.

Yeah, I guess it all depends on who you are. I'm sure Allstate doesnt treat all of their policy holders that way. Maybe just the ones who total 3+ vehicles per year.... I'll check into State Farm today. My GF has them and she like it so far. If they are as cheap as Allstate, then I'll go with them. :thumb:

Thanks for the info. :thumb: I wish they would have told me this last spring when I called for a quote. Instead they offer me addon insurance for my parts. Go figure... ;)

Im very close to finally gettin my first dsm. im gettin ready to buy a 92 gsx. i was wondering what the best place to get insurance would be. right now i have state farm and i only pay $93 a month for a 94 pontiac sunbird V6 dirt bomb. Im only 16 so im expecting it to be little expensive. how are dsm's on gas like are they better than a V8? i know its only a 4 cylinder but its got the turbo and i dunno how big of a difference it makes.

YOu said you make fun of the guy, but it still comes down to being ignorant. HE could have a bad ass GN, or a nice looking Skylark and you assumed. I dont make fun of anything until I really check it out. The times I didnt, I looked like a retartd.

As said before, yes I stereo-typed his car, just like the insurance company did. Though i never said he deserved to be cancelled by the insurance company.

I never said that YOU said that. I said you made it sound that way.

Progressive has gone both ways for me. When I first bought my '99 Ranger, they were the cheapest I could find without having to deal with buttheads. 8 months after getting the truck, I hit black ice on the highway and totalled it, and they covered everything without question. Fast forward 2 years, and they had gotten prgressively worse. We had 3 cars on the policy, my Daytona, my Supra, and my wife's Grand Prix. We were paying $1300 every 3 months, and when she got into an accident(not her fualt, but driver was uninsured, and we had uninsured motorist coverage, and she has a spotless record), they were trying to refuse to pay anything. It took us 3 months to get it straight. Well, after all was said and done, we got a replacment for her car and went shopping, since Progressive dropped us. 1 DAY later, we found Wisconsin Mutual, and have been there ever since. Coverage on all of our current vehicles, except my '57 Chev, is $300 every 6 months. Chev is through Grundy. I think Progressive has gone to crap, along with all the big name companies.

I had progressive for almost 3 years and they never said a thing about it to me.
