Insurance [Merged 10-6]

Yeah you should look for a new company that wants your money.

If you can (have military in family) then try for USAA. They are a great company. I remember when I bought my 98Z28 they asked me if I was going to race it. I told them no, but they said that if I was planning on it in the future to let them know. For an extra $30 a month I could have racing insurace attached to the car so if the car wrecked on any race track they would still cover the damage..

try StateFarm good rates.. im at 60 bucks a month full coverage.
Yeah, but you're older and married.... I'll never see $60/ month.....
I'll be happy to get $1300 for 6 months for my DSM and my truck.
I've already started shopping around. I made this bad-ass, professional looking fascimile (sp?) at work and I faxed it to 8 different local agents. Two of them already called back and quoted me cheaper than Progressive. I'm happy again..... :D

I think they are just pissed because I made a claim on my FMIC when I hit a Semi tire on the highway..... It was one month after that claim, I received the letter.....

Big mistake... you never claim that kind of stuff unless your car is stolen or totaled. Most of that stuff the insurance companies see you as using the car for other then intended purposes.

Yeah..... It was worth them cancelling me to get a new FMIC and bumper out of it.... It still doesnt sound legal to me..... And I have a good driving record (well, the last 4 years at least)......

That does suck about Progressive. As others have mentioned, they had some of the highest rates when I was shopping too.

I also recommend Allstate. They've been good to me and the rates are the cheapest I could find for full coverage. A while ago my car was crashed (someone backed into me) and they had it fixed quickly and without any hassles. I ended up getting all $3500 worth of damage done for free since the other guy didn't have insurance.

Thats sucks. I wish I could find the thread, but I have seen that Geico was canceling people for going to the track. They said that they had pitures of cars running at certain tracks and they sent them all letters letting them knwo they were going to be cancelled. Kinda shitty of you ask me.

Now all those retards that say that some kid that races and crashes doesnt affect him can eat his words, becasue this is the after affect.

You could print out rulebooks by the bigger racing sanctioning bodies and circle the parts where you'd fail inspection and tech ;)
It'd be interesting to know what progressive's criteria for a "race" car are...because every third Civic/DSM/240/(insert popular 'tuner' car here) on the road qualifies. Assholes.

Well you'll probably get a better rate then what you got now. I know things intended to be used as racing and not for use on public highways would throw up a flag. I know most companies want to protect their investment(insured) and and if they see your car as a liability they will cancel you. Some companies are really lenient where others are strict about it. I don't know if your car went into the guys looking like your pic, but that could throw flags too.

See, that's kinda funny. Progressive has been absolutely awesome for me. They had the lowest rates BY FAR of any company that I could find - and as long as I've been using them (2 years or so), my premium drops every time its up for renewal, even though I've had tickets and claims and such.

I filed a claim with them last year and they paid for fixing my "additional" components including clear corners and foglamps that were damaged - I made sure that my coverage included about $3000 of "optional equipment".

But I do know that Progressive is run in each state by an individual company entity, so maybe it's just the Virgnia one that's half decent.

Your car looks like a race car, why are you complaining? Don't say it isn't either, because your far from stock looking too. I just don't see the point of this thread? Don't get my wrong im not tryn to flame, Progressive sucks...

What does 99gst Racer mean? Sounds like you race your car too me?

There are ways to get your stuff paid by the insurance... I'm not sure how legal it is though. I don't like to consider it cheating them, but usually just take the deductible and get it repaired on your own with a decent amount of claim and you would be good. It helps to have a friend in the paint business too!

Progressive has been great for me. Rates go down everytime I renew my contract with them. I had to call them up the other day because my car broke down and they sent me a flatbed for free to take back to my house.

so that means that 75% of this board MUST have their insurance canceled because they've been to the RACE TRACK to get legitimate times, and not street race and endanger themselves or others.

I don't think I've ever heard of "the normal person" who had to make a claim from something that happened ON the race track. Of course there are those who run 9's, 10's who when something happens, they hit the wall and recieve damage...but the majority of us that run 13's+ have never and will never have a problem actually on the track.

I think its BS that they "assume"(you didn't say they had proof) you are a racer, and cancel your policy. I know people who work for Nationwide Insurance, Progressive, and others that have "modified" cars. Your agent must really be a d!ck.

There is no such thing as a good insurance company. They never pay on time. When they do pay, it's what they want to pay, and not what you need to cover the damages. They will bullshit you to no ends. It's just a money-making scam.

I asked them the criteria also. He said it was their call and every case is different. There is no set rules. I said "what about every Civic that you cover that has been lowered and has a CAI and exhaust....". He said, "Civic's are slow and Eclipse Turbo's are not. One small modification such as lowering springs puts me over the edge for liability". Sounds kinda foolish to me. They'll insure a 04 Vette (which is much faster than me) and they wont insure my lowered Eclipse because it's too fast.

Yeah, I had $5000 of coverage on my additional equiptment and I told them every modification upon starting my coverage. They had no problem until my first claim.....

You should be a Progressive agent - you think the same way. Just because it 'looks' like a race car, doesnt mean it is. I agree I've modified the appearence of the car, but How can you justify calling my car a race car when it's never been on any track, only car shows. From what I've understood; You modify the appearence for shows like I've done, and you modify the engine internals for racing (which I havent done). Whats next?? Are you going to consider an 85 Buick with paint and a body kit a race car because it looks fast, or because his internet name is 85Buick_racer?? LOL, not trying to flame, but give me a break......

It is BS and Yes, my agent is a big D!ck. He said that he didnt need proof of me racing it. Using a K&N filter to add horsepower and lower springs to add aggressive handling was enough to convince him that if I wasnt track racing it, I must be street racing it. The thing that pisses me off is that I have yet to do either. It just LOOKS like a race car. Most of you guys are faster than me.

Man I'm glad I switched insurance.

You should try Geiko.."15 minutes could say you 15 percent or more on car insurance!"
I use allstate and they rock..Sorry about the luck!

I had the same thoughts earlier about the Vettes and other fast cars. It seems like a case for a lawyer to me. You've been wronged, only loads of cash can make you feel better.

Of all those 8 quote requests I faxed out, I received 3 calls back. I choose Allstate. I will save $30/month in the summer and $75/month in the winter making a total of $630 savings per year!!!! Now I'm actually kinda glad Progressive cancelled me. Otherwise, I would've never started shopping around. Now "I'm in good hands" with Allstate.
