I pay absolutely nothing... it's a 92, why insure it?

j/k it's sitting in a storage lot while I'm sitting in the sandbox. But I was paying about $100 a month for liability and a mix between Md & Ca minimum coverages. Should go down a bit when I get home since I'll have driven for 3 years without a ticket.

I pay $410 a month for a 96 non-turbo talon for full and $194 a month for a 95 neon liability. I only have $1500 left on the talon I baught about a month ago for 3500 an it blew my mind when I called my insurance co. So I got to finsh paying it off its getting kinda hard to pay $764 a month to pay insurance on two cars and a car payment and be able to by the turbo the insurance reason is why I got the non- turbo I thought it was going to be cheap

$85 every 3 months

It pays to have a clean driving record and over the age of 25. I am also married so that might have something to do with it. My insurance agent is a pretty nice guy. I have talked to him about going out to the track. He is there every weekend and has connections to play around on the weekdays sometimes. It pays to get in good with your insurance agent.

18 , 97 GSX 150 a month.......I went from a 97 GS to a GSX and it went down 77 bucks a month i was like wtf ? but didnt ask any questons :D

*edit* and a clear clear record !!!!!!! :thumb:

goddam, so you pay exactly $4,680 a year for insurance.....that is some crazy shit.........

That I do indeed. Thanks for reminding me :|. Insurance sucks! I don't even have any speeding tickets on my record (one is in the works right now though). I do, however, have something like 4 or 5 non-traffic violations. Two tickets for no front plate, one for illegal window tint :thumbdown, one for blacked out tails, and one for playing my music too loud :thumbdown. As far as I'm concerned, cops and car insurance companies both suck. There is no reason why anyone should get tickets for any of the above reasons. I can think of much better ways for a cop can spend their time .

18 my own policy is $520 every there months full coverage American Family. so that breaks down to around $175 a month. I have never got into a wreck or a ticket plus good grade discount.

im 20, liability, and i pay a little over 20 bucks a month (125 every 6 months) my own policy. but i get some kind of discount for staying with them. midnight i would change insurance companies if i was you 390 a month is crazy :thumbdown

I'm 19 and pay $87 a month for liability and collision with a $500 decuctable. I was paying $130/month (liability only) on my 96 sentra gxe on my parents insurance. But when i got the gsx i switched to allstate on my brother's business policy.

When I first got my '91 Eclipse GS Turbo I thought I paid $20 a month, but when I got the bill it was $7 :p That's right 1G's RULE!

Wanna know what really goes into insurance policies?

-Age (over 25 is usually much less than under)
-Driving record (accidents/violations)
-Your car(s) (How much damage they can cause, top speed, acceleration, accident statistics in like vehicles)
-Prior insurance (this is a biggy for some companies like mine).
-Gender (women getting us back for PMS and having babies)
-Marital status (married = less insurance, usually)
-CREDIT SCORE (yes, your credit can and will affect your rate with most companies in most states)

Major discounts:
-Homeownership
-More than one car on a policy
-More than one policy per household (auto/homeowners/motorcycle/boat/motorhome/etc)

If you're on your parents policy, you can usually leech off of their rating factors on things like discounts and credit.

Also certain safety features can reduce your premium. If you have state farm it usually tells you on your bill/statement a few things you can do to reduce your costs.

When I was 20 I had to pay almost $6000 on a Geo Metro! That damn car only booked for maybe $3K at best. It was because of my tickets and accidents but needless to say I did change insurance companies.

Holy shit. Makes you wish you didn't speed huh?

Show your kids your old insurance bills and tell them what happens when you get cuaght speeding. That'll teach em. :)
:thumb:

Sadly I plan on that when/if I have kids.
I look back and realize I was an idiot for speeding that much... :(

some companies will give you a discount for having good grades. which is what i have with a clean record, and on my parents insurance. my rates went down by almost half for turning 21.

i just got quoted at 895/6 months for a 97 gsx and was told that it is an "intermediate sports car", kinda sucks cuz my SHO is 500/6 months and its a "medium sports car", 4 doors and 3 being 3 years older must be the difference.

i'm 17, and own a 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD :talon: and i have the good student discount and also the no tickets and mine is approx. 68$ a month...so that's probably in the general area you will be looking at...that would be my guess

-that is with All-State on my parents acount as well

That should be sexist, Women always bi*** about how they want = rights. Well I say lets give it to them. The thing is they only want the good parts of mens rights and none of the bad. Well I say they want = rights that means everything is = no matter what. Statistically men are more likely to speed is bull shit. There are shitty women drivers and shitty men drivers thats all there is to it. I think a studdy of 1k people and saying men are more likely to speed is bull. look at how many people there are in this world. Statistical studies like that are a waste of tax payers money

I agree with that being sexist. Its wrong to charge us more for insurance just because a few young guys speed around and cause trouble. Women drive like maniacs also and their insurance should be just as high. I think after a certain age, besides 25, like ummm 20 LOL your insurance should go down, plus however your driving record looks.

im in the same position of the kid that started the thread, im 17 and had my license for about 8 months aswell. My first car was a 87 toyota supra and that was only like 120 for liability, and then i had my civic :thumbdown and now i have my eclipse gs and it costs me around 130 a month for just liability, only tips i can think of are take drivers ed, i know state fram has a discount for drivers like me with no tickets (30 bucks) and the 3.0 gpa can help out 2. My step dad is an insurance agent and he said 160 is about as low as it can go with out going with some sketchey company.

Most 20 year olds pay less than most 18 year olds pay less than 16 year olds. It makes a difference, but usually the biggest difference is when you turn 25.

Also, those of you comparing coverage, make sure to post what coverage you have.

Good full coverage (comprehensive, collision, and liability) is usally twice as much or more as a liability-only policy. Also, the state and city you live in makes a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE difference. Someone in Bronx can expect to pay 3 times or more as much as someone in rural NY.
