If your family has a beater... place yourself as the primary driver of it, and have your folks primary driver of your car. It helps alot :). Plus there is no way of proving that you are the primary driver, as long as the car is under thier name it should work just fine.

DAMN IT, you should all be happy with what ur paying, i have 13 points and in nj i have a 97 gst full cover for 3250 every 6 months, and thats with a high risk insurance company so i cant get any lower...

yea man, that sounds about right. I'm 18/male and i had a couple of speeding tickets...i pay $1300 every six months, that's with full coverage too, not too bad. Plus paying that much for insurance is well worth it to drive a DSM, GREAT CARs!

I've been meaning to call around but haven't...

does anyone out there with a gsx pay less then 800 every 6 months?

22 w/no tickets but i lost the $200 'good student discount'...

if any of you are...through what company? I'm with state farm right now.

19/male 1999 GSX

One speeding ticket for 80 in a 70 (in MN, where we don't get points for speeding tickets) from last xmas eve

Car in mom's name

Progressive insurance

$489 every 6 months

OMG

Edit: this is for full coverage too

LoL i don't even want to tell you guys how much i pay for a 250/250 comp/collision deductible and full coverage but i will...i pay about $475 every 6 months as a single male granted i'm 26 but still....Ha Ha Ha

Hey man, I could care less if the car was in Martha Stewart's name, I paid for the thing in full, in cash.

If it gets me a cut on insurance then I'm all for it.

1300/6mo. 17 male no tickets (yet) and thats with a 10% discount from doing some silly drivers log to make me a better driver.

I am 19 and I paid for my car myself and have my own insurance under my name, and have full coverage paying $840 for every 6 months.

I thought I was paying a lot but I guess not.

I am 19 under my mom's name, with 16 tickets (Not all speeding) that they are able to see. (Over 20 if you go to the court house) I pay right about $237 a month and that is with my good student discount. It sucks when you pay more for Isurance then your car payment, but as soon as that turbo spools up it is all worth it! :thumb:

28, single, clean record
Progressive

WRX $110 a month
GVR4 $30 a month ( I thought this was funny too ) :shhh:

Man, this is depressing. I have 2 points against me that fall off in 6 months. I am 20 and I pay $350 a month for a 96' GSX. That is $2100 for 6 months. I have the home owners discount, the good student discount, and the multi car discount. I live in Colorado which I hear has some of the highest rates. They told me when I turn 21 and lose those points it will go down by almost half. I have Country Insurance. My DSM (which is better anyway) costs the same amount every month than my old 2001 Mustang GT. I later, was gonna buy a 93' RX-7 R1 and the insurance for it was only $10 more a month. Anyway I would love to even pay $200 a month, let alone $150 or less.:(

Look in your yellow pages for "Insurance Brokers" and go talk with two or three of them. They sell from a number of companies, and will find the best deal available for you.

You are right I work for one of the largest "Insurance Brokers" in Chicago. They deal with alot of different companies, but then you have to pay them for doing it for you. The trick is to get them to tell you who would be best for you then just going to them direct, and skip the “commission fees” from the broker.

I don’t do insurance work, I do there computer support. This is just the small tips I have picked up on the side.
