hi everybody,
i bought the used ignition system and i want to hook them now , its included :bushur racing Coil On Plug , MSD DIS 2 . plus i bought the engine wiring harness that works with them .
the BR COP has 4 wires ( 1 purple for 1#4 , 1 yellow for 2#3 , 2 red wires ) .
i really dont know where can i hooked them .
on the wiring harness , there is the wiring that labled COP , it has the 4 wires ( 1 white , 1 green , 2 red that comes together ) that has the the same color on my MSD DIS 2 .
plus the MSD DIS 2 has 8 wires ( 1 white , 1 green , 2 red , 2 brown orange ,1 brown white , 1 brown white ).
i really confuesd that what can i do .
should i hook the COP wiring to Engine wiring harness or COP wiring to MSD or MSD wiring to engine wiring harness .
there is some pics that show everything clearly .
pleas help me if you can.
thanks.

Be certain you want to install the COP and MSD. It really doesn't help you with your setup and furthermore it is used. Who knows the abuse it took for the first owner that might have really needed it.

ok, totally, how can i install the COP and MSD ?

If you find out let me know also. I have asked and came up with nothing. I know there are people running c.o.p and msd together.

MSD and COP will do nothing for you and you should sell one of them! A COP setup eliminates the need for a MSD since they both do the same thing boosting voltage and creating a hotter spark my mean of less resistence.

^^^ I'm pretty sure that's incorrect as there are a TON of threads about how there is absolutely no difference between the OEM coil pack and an aftermarket (read: 300M) COP setup. A COP setup alone does not provide a hotter spark by any means.

im agreed :thumb:

i said , they are used plus they works on a talon but i cant find the seller .

Then if i'm wrong and a COP setup is the same as a coil pack then why are people buying them and using them????? If they both do the same thing then whats the need for COP!!!

People do a lot of things that they think are cool in the auto industry.

Its the small percent of people that build a car to perform that are set apart from the rest of the posers.

I did some research and found that the COP setup maynot give you a hotter spark; but it certainly does increase the voltage by means of less resistence.

Think of it as water flowing through a pipe if you have a long pipe (ie: spark plug wires) then you will have more resistence and vise versa if you have a short pipe then you will have less resistence and better flow?

True, but the performance gain compared to cost is practically invisible. I myself would like to get a COP setup, but I'm fully aware of the performance "non"benefits. I have other reasons for swapping to a COP setup (and yes... those reasons are other then appearance, although they do look very nice).

I think since they are so cheap to make(under $100) people purchase them for many reasons. You don't have to buy another set of expensive wires. Cheaper to be replaced then getting a new coil pack. Looks, etc etc.

Yeah, I don't understand why people tweak about how its an appearance mod only, or it serves no purpose/benefit etc etc.

Whats a good set of wires cost? $65 on the low end and $100 near the top? Way over $100 for some?

Person A has bad wires and wishes to try some fancy ones, hopefully they won't misfire like the last, more moderately priced, set. = ~$100

Person B has bad wires, but realizes that for the same price as new wires he can build his own COP setup. He knows that the advantages are on paper and rarely seen in real life situations, but he can now eliminate the need of replacing wires ever again. Person B also likes this idea because it allows himself to indulge in what he loves most: his car. The reward from creating something on your own and modifying your car with it is powerful for some.

What if a guy has to replace a coilpack? Seen what those run, new?

I love the idea of tinkering with my car, trying new things, and I'm certainly fond of ditching the wires and finding alternatives to pouring hundreds into the ignition system because of faulty wires and an ancient old coilpack.
I'm like Person B.

The real world advatange is the loss of resistance from the plug wire. 95% of people don't make enough power to realize a difference. I run stock ignition

You need to read my post #13!

The only place you will notice would be on a dyno by seeing before and after tests!

Also, I found that in higher reving engines, high Hp engines a COP or CDI system is needed to be able to produce a spark in the milliseconds that the engine has in between cycles.

You are confirming what I said because I don't consider 578whp to be a high HP. I believe most people here don't make that so again most dsm'ers don't need COP.

So... When running a CoP setup it's not recommended to get an ignition/spark amplifier like AEM or the like? I tried reading around and found only vague or discern information.

Maybe someone with knowledge running a CoP system could butt in!

hi guys i just built a cop setup 4 my eclipse 1st it ets rid of clutter and 2end they look so much nicer and when you start getting into some real boost like 25 27 lbs it keeps u running strong when you start making big hp is when your going to want them the most or for that mater making more hp ## goin to want any ignition upgrade me personaly i build mine for 70$ it works great and looks hela good to and i myself and looking for instructions on msd with cop wireing to so if i find anything ill share im goin to give my buddy scott wegman a call type his name in on youtube.com look for his white talon peace out guys
