When I installed my turbo back exhaust I had to use a couple bolts from home depot. Holding up just fine. I would recommend not using stainless steel bolts. I forget what mine were made out of when I bought them but they can take the heat. But you can always get exhaust manifold/turbo bolts from Forced Performance and they are very strong. I would recommend this over hardware store bolts.

Make sure you have the right bolt for the oil drain that connects to the bottom of the turbo. Your stock t25 bolt will not fit the turbo. That was one problem I ran into that no one mention.

Theres another guide in there that might help you out. One thing I would recommend is just pulling the radiator out from the start leaving the fans attached to give yourself some extra room to work.

Hmmm broken bolts ugh...im not ready for those....would a hardware store carry exhaust bolts? :hmm:

The hardware store might carry the size you need, but the hardware you get will unlikely be able to withstand the intense heat that the head and manifold will reach. They'll get you by in a pinch, but seriously consider getting the real deal from JNZ Tuning or SSStuds.com.

Otherwise, you are probably setting yourself (or the next owner) up for some very frustrating car work sessions.

And like stated above if the studs or nuts are difficult to turn, spray- no, soak the studs in PB Blaster. Preferably several times over the course of 24 hours. Broken manifold studs will delay you even more. Believe us when we say busted manifold studs are very annoying.

Also, if you can afford it (time and money wise) consider using four brand new manifold to turbo bolts and four brand new O2 housing bolts.

And +1 on anti-seize! LOL

If i break bolts im going need them today iv already been wating a month to do this. Im on borrowed time working a a friends place witch is out of town sooo....ya

Im not trying to sound like a d*** but if you have been waiting for a month you should have been planning for a month.Using the site to read as much as you could about doing the swap. This job can go super easy and smooth or can end up being a nightmare.

Im putting a 14b on my car right now luckly I have a place to work on it so I was able to start the job by taking everything off the car and find out what bolts I could and couldnt reuse and fix stripped studs on the o2 housing stuff like that. PB,WD40, and Anti-Seize will be your friends. As I read more into things finding out feeding a 14b or 16g from the OFH can be bad news if not restricted so I now have to change my game plan for feeding the turbo.

Good luck man, the best thing I can tell you is to take your time and read as much as you can.

All the room makes it much easier

Good job bro! :thumb:

I am going to be doing the same thing soon with my Evo III 16G and VRSF FMIC.

What were the most frustrating parts? And how did you overcome them? Could be some good tips for when I do mine. I did my full exhaust myself but that doesn't take too much thinking.
