Okay so I have decided that I am effin tired of listening to the radio when I drive my eclipse. I have a spare headunit setting in the garage and was gonna put it in.

1) Head unit is amped (52wx4 channel)
Should I use a mitah adapter and keep the stock amp
2) Is it possible to wire this 4 channel headunit and use the stock tweeters?
3) Should I bypass the stock amp since the headunit is amped?

Unless your replacing your speakers I would keep the factory amp, most of the factory speaks have weird ohm Resistance and will blow fast or burn the outputs out of your radio

Well I think I found What I am looking for finally. Been look around on the internet for about 3-4 days now and finally found this

Metra 70-7003 Mitsubishi Amp Integration Harness

Parts-Express.com:Metra 70-7003 Mitsubishi Amp Integration Harness | premium sound amp integration

Looks like it should work to integrate my Aftermarket radio, stock amp, and I am thinking about throwing some old Technics 8" paper cones in the door if I can find someone with little bi*** hands to install my door handle for me. Probably shop around until I can find some old 6x9 paper cones for the back.

Does the stock amp put out funky power levels? I don't wanna blow these speakers as they are Antiques and I don't know of anywhere that will recone them for me.

not sure but in jeeps the amp runs in 11ohms (stupid right) so if you just replace the factory speakers sooner or later the amp will quit

I don't know much about car audio. I do eventually want a good system in this car maybe I should find a forum that is more car audio friendly than this one. Doesn't seem to be many car audio guys here at all.

I am a DIYer and refuse to let anyone touch my car for anything other than alignments or exhuast or paint. I can't weld or paint worth a shit.

Does anyone know the model number of the Stock Amp?

oh my oh my, yet another one of these that i answer frequently..

Please see my tech section article..

hell let me find it for you.. i suggested it be a sticky here in the audio forum but it was not granted.. so i always have to put an effort to help..

1) Head unit is amped (52wx4 channel)
you should know it is no where to actually being 52RMS unless the technology has changed these days..

Should I use a mitah adapter and keep the stock amp
see my link above

2) Is it possible to wire this 4 channel headunit and use the stock tweeters?
see my link above

3) Should I bypass the stock amp since the headunit is amped?
from my observations and comparion yes, but only if you have a component speaker system up front to have the dash speakers work (due to the xovers)

Thanks for the great info.

Having some issues with the metra adpater. I got everything spliced and I cant figure out why the radio is not powering on.

Anyone have a pinout of the stock radio wiring harness plug?

the stock radio harness pin outs are the exact same as the metra you have.

which method did you decide to do anyways from what i told you in my great article that should be stickied?

if you wired it up correctly and its not turning on, check fuse in the car, fuse in the radio and your ground. if its not those, its your wiring, 99% of the time it usually is. your vehicles wiring and wiring must be severely screwed for it NOT to be any of the previous mentioned

It was the ground spot I was using. The metra had the correct pinout. Trying to mock up a block off plate to go in the lower DIN unless I can find a install kit that doesnt put the radio in the middle but rather at the top (prefered) or bottom. So I can put some damn gauges in there too.

Edit:

The radio sounds amazing compaired to when it was in my Saturn. The only speakers I replaced are the OEM infinitys with aftermarket ones I pulled out of my talon.

If you finish that mock up plate post a pic. I would like to see what you come up with. Also, if you need help with audio, I install car audio and would be pleased to offer advice for your future projects.

I just took a piece of carboard and marked it off to fit the hole.

Cut it out. Traced around it on a piece of metal from an old computer case. Cut that out with tin shears. Gonna cut 3 52mm holes in it and paint it flat black. Need to figure out how to screw it down now.
