there is no need to get the 74 xHP3 bulbs... super bright led makes direct replacement LED bulbs for the gauge cluster. You wont have to worry about polarity or anything, you just replace the stock bulbs

i should have mine all done in a few days... i shaved off the orange and then taped the numbers off and spray painted the back with black so i dont get any hot spots. ill put pics up when its done

Those LED's have less coverage on the sides like the 74 xHP3 bulbs do. You have to remember there is clear plastic inside the cluster that is shaped around the bulb. The clear plastic is what illuminates the gauges properly. This is why its important to get lighting all the way around the bulb or you will get dark and hot spots.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but for the bulbs you recommended to use for the cluster, they are just the bulbs ?
Meaning i have to take out my exisiting bulbs out of the black socket and pop the 74-xHP3 Wedge Base LED bulb from superbrightleds.com in place of the old one and that's it ?

Correct, just the bulbs (LEDs), you still have to remove the old bulb and insert the new LED in the black socket. Polarity matters as I explained earlier with a picture diagram of the cluster. You won't hurt the LED if you get it wrong the first time, just flip it and it should work.

Can you light up the needles in say a white? I would've just ordered a kit from Import Intelligence but they don't offer white. How would you go about doing that?

UPDATE: Its almost been a year since I did this cluster LED upgrade and so far no problems with any LED's. I really enjoy driving the car at night with the red cluster and red switch light. Next up is my Evo since its red cluster is lacking brightness.

Good luck taking apart your cluster apart and sanding the back of the gauge faces. Too much work for me but if you have the time and do it right, it should look cool. The reason I posted this thread is its easy and most people can do it. There's another thread I posted here that turns the lighting to white and those are the instructions you will need to follow. Blue LED's won't work behind the stock cluster without modifying it (sanding).

I've read whole thread and still haven't seen anywhere someone had written bulbs for the 1st generation...Well, I'm looking for sizes of bulbs in my Eclipse, instrumental and dash, anyone knows anything about them?I've took them all out but still can't find some of them on Ebay I must search for them there only as I'm pretty far away from US so have to look for best shipping cost offers

My brother and I just bought a bunch of these for testing purposes. We bought interior lights, gauge cluster lights, reverse lights, and license plate lights. We tested a whole bunch of different lights for each location and picked out what we thought were the best. The decision was made on brightness, light distribution, matching color/shade to other lights in the area, and focus (wide or narrow).

We compared the gauge cluster lights to the LED swap we did a while ago and they just didn't compare. They were much more dim and yellow than the custom swap. So we decided not to use them. This proved to be the same with the button/bezel lights (cruise control, fog lights, hazard lights, etc.).

Here is what bulbs we used and in which locations.
Foot wells - WLED-WHP9-T
Glove box - WLED-WHP9-T
Map lights (non-sunroof) - 3710-CWHP3
Map lights (sunroof)) - 4210-CWHP3
Trunk - 3022-CWHP2 (required a little modification of the light receptacle and a bit of denting of one end of the bulb)
License plate lights - WLED-WHP5
Reverse lights - 1156-W24

I bought these gauges and I was wanting to do this led mod How many bulbs would need for the cluster to eliminate the rest of the orange out of the 7 he says the complete cluster mod would take and which ones would they be exactly

Those gauges and the LED cluster mod would likely not work well together. Those light up on their own and don't necessarily let much light through the face overlays. So I would pick one or the other.

I'm not sure if you understand my question
I'm putting those gauges in and I don't want any orange to be left in the cluster
I was asking if I needed any of those bulbs to eliminate the rest of the orange from the cluster
Like the orange that comes from the mileage
