Installed needle kit, Speedometer F***ed up.

Well I installed that intelliglow needle kit on my gauge cluster the other day. I started with the speedometer needle and followed the instructions from the maker (http://www.bee.net/a2low240/help/main.html ). I rotated the needle counter-clockwise 3 times and during the third rotation a copper coil began to show itself beneath the needle/above the miles display. Worried this was not a good sign, I rotated the needle back to where it started. I then looked up some instructions that a member here posted (which described a COMPLETELY different proccess for the needle removal). I did this on the speedometer and the remaining gauges.
Now everthing is installed. The RPM gauge moved fine, as do the other gauges, except for the speedometer. I'm convinced that rotating the needle like that on the maker's instructions ruined the coil behind the Speedo needle. The speedo needle will slowly rise to as high as 40 mph and then drop even slower (even after a sudden stop). The needle is not rubbing on anything behind it.
After hours of atempting to fix the problem, I've given up. Where should I take this (besides the dealer) to be fixed? I've emailed intelliglow for advice and they have yet to be of any help. It seems like it's the instructions that caused the problem (since a member's tutorial worked just fine). Any help is appreciated.

I don't know who wrote those instructions, nor what language they _really_ speak, but you've just bzorped your speedo. Check eBay, there's always a few floating around.

WTF, rotated it three times?? Did you tap your heels afterwards? Man, what nut job wrote those instructions...

You just needed to pull the old ones off, and place the new ones on. Easier to get it back to the right position if you lift the original needle over the pin that keeps it from going past 0 at rest, and note where it stops moving (I used the Unleaded Fuel Only or whatever lettering as a guideline). Remember the location, pop off the old one, and then pop on the new in the same position.

I used this method also and it worked for me.
