Installed intake, hearing rushing liquid sound..

This is the first bolt on I've done to my 97 automatic gsx.. I had the factory rubber hose-like intake since I got the car and I just upgraded to aluminum. Is this sound normal? I also installed a K&N air filter if that helps..

I did a lot of research before installing since I'm pretty new to working under the hood but read nothing concerning this sound. Thanks a lot.

Is it a sucking sound?
Normally you will get a louder sound coming from the intake sucking the air in.

Yeah it seems like its just the air being sucked in. I just wanted to make sure I didnt screw something up haha.. thanks. Guess my first bolt on was a success!

Not a problem. Everyone has the jitters when they first start modding. When I first started out I used to have my cousin thats been doing this stuff for 10 years come over for everything I did to make sure I was doing it right.

When I did a CAI for the first time I thought I had a huge boost leak. Every turbo car I've ridden in with a CAI since has made nearly the same noise. Congrats on the successful first bolt on!

Sounds like it!

That difference in sound you're hearing is because the air being drawn in by the turbo is hitting your new metal intake pipe instead of the stock rubber "snorkel" hose. You'll notice increased noise not only when your turbo spools up, but also when your BOV opens. Once again, the increase in noise is caused by the recirculated air from your BOV resonating against the hard metal intake pipe.
