if it makes noise when you change gears then is not the struts. check the gear oil level on the transmission.
 
If you're not mechanically inclined, the best advice I can give you is for you to take it to a reputable shop that can do a free suspension inspection. Most common causes of "clunks" when going over bumps include: inner and outer tie rods ends, worn strut mount plates, worn shocks/struts, etc. If it's clunking when you're shifting, you may have a transmission mount that's deteriorating or some other issue.

The BEST way to get this identified is to take it somewhere for an inspection.
