i just got done installing my ExtremePSI Intake. wow it made a noticeable difference. its cool to b/c its made the bov louder and when the car is under boost you can hear it sucking the air in.
also my boost went from 14.5ish and falling off to 12ish to 15 then down to about 13psi

its the best bang for the buck so far - well being we only have one mod so that makes it easy to say that.

next up is 2.5" turbo back exhaust and 2.5 upper intercooler pipe with greddy type S - both are in my shop ready to be installed this weekend

A downpipe is also a notiable way to improve power. A full exhaust will be extremely effective in getting some ponies under that hood.

can you have a boost leak on the cold side of the turbo?

i mean hell pro's run with no intake just open turbo

I believe that he ment that your new nice cool sound can be a boost leak, but not necesarily coming from the intake... but from the intercooler piping. I guess he ment for you to be careful with all those new "nice" whistling sounds...

But hey, cool about your Intake pipe, I wondered once if it really did increase BOV sound... but now I know... nice.

A lot of people seem to knock getting a larger intake on DSMs. I was never sure if it made a difference or not because I installed mine in conjunction with aftermarket upper and lower IC piping. I definitely noticed a difference in power, feel, throttle response, and sound. Now I know the IC piping was only part of the overall effect.

OK I'm completely new to working on cars and all this, I don't even have my eclipse yet LOL

But I'm reading non stop and learning the best upgrades to get first and basically everything you nerd to know to have a nice powerful car..

I was looking at the extremepsi intake and it says you connect it to your MAS...what is the MAS? Is it the box in between the intake and filter?

This is probably a dumb question but you have to understand, I've never even looked under the hood of an eclipse LOL..

Thanks to anyone that can answer my question!

MAS= Mass Airflow Sensor. Basically, where the air enters the motor and is metered by the engine control unit, or ECU. The ecu needs to know how much air is going in to "know" how much fuel to inject into each cylinder.

Here's a good picture (not mine) of an Eclipse. You can see the intake (the reddish cone filter) in the bottom of the picture and the little black box thing right after it is the MAS.

When/if you get a DSM, an intake shouldn't be first on your list. Routine maintenance should take precedence over mods. Maintenance includes: timing belt, balance shaft belt, oil and filter, coolant flush, a/c, alternator, and power steering belts, axles, tie rods, any trouble codes, etc.

If the car doesn't run right to begin with, mods will only make the situation worse.

Yeah, but doesn't it seem like a better idea to pick up an old thread where it left off, than clutter up the forums with another brand new "how do I put gas in my car" type thread?

LOL at-least its not boost fluid :|

Ahhh thanks for the reply!! Yea I figured that's what it was just wasn't for sure... and there is no when and if LOL I've wanted a dsm ever since I was ten LOL and yea I definitely wasn't gonna get an intake first...I've read so many threads where people just wanna buy bolt ons from the start, but that ain't me LOL... I'll take care of maintenance first, and aircan mod, then bov,
ten exhaust.

Figured I'd pop in and pose a newbish question while the zombie thread is rearing its head haha. I've had my stock 2G for about six months now and having had no problems (aside from a bum t-stat LOL) I've decided to get some mods in by the end of the summer. Most of the upgrade paths I've seen have gone Intake-Catback-BOV so I figured I'd pick up an intake first but I have absolutely no idea which one to order. My brother insists Dejon for some reason but they seem pretty expensive and to be fully honest I have no idea which options to pick from the drop boxes. So I guess my question is to whether there is a notable difference for the intakes on the market and what fitment I should be selecting for a stock turbo.

If you are keeping the car mostly stock I would say to go with the dejon... you will want to select the option that has the VCV and charcoal connection. When you are putting it in the car it will be pretty self explanatory where they go...

And there is another dropdown for inlet size i believe? you will want the size that says it fits all mitsu turbos including the t25.

That intake is rather expensive however I don't know of any others that come with all the stock connections off the top of my head (ingen maybe but I am not sure if it does). You could always try to find a used one or make one for yourself. If you are good at improvising it wouldn't be too hard...

That part of the car is REALLY easy to figure out. Oh and make sure it has the option that recirculates the blow off valve... that is important.

You may want to look at this: 2G Upgrade path

If you want a decent intake "snorkel" for cheap then I suggest looking on ebay. A metal pipe is a metal pipe. So long as it appears to habe decent fitment, some vacuum ports, and a recirculation fitting, it will work perfect. If your still confused, post up a link to the one your pondering and we would he able to tell if it will work.

But the real "intake" that people talk about is the intercooler pipes and core. The stock piping is restrictive and unreliable. The side mount is okay but you really want a decent front-mount core if you plan to make some power in the future.

For that I suggest Punishment Racing. You wont get more for 400 bucks.
