hey all
i got my boost gauge yesterday so i installed it... but i was suprized that with my T25, when i stomp on the gas (in any gear besides 1st) the boost shoots up to 17-18-19 PSI, then quickly drops and holds at 15PSI and then starts dropping down a bit more after about 5000RPM.... i was planning on setting the boost at 15PSI... but i guess i don't need to even bother installing my MBC now..
i assume that the boost is at this level because i removed the BCS restrictor... i also cut out the BOV dump tube from my stock intake pipe

so does everyone agree that there's no point in installing the MBC? or will the MBC help to cut down on that initial spike?
thanks all

oh, also... i'm thinking about buying a logger... but i just need to ask... with a logger... can i merely view all sorts of stuff, or can i actually adjust it if i find that something is out of wack... for example.. i can't actually play with the timing and A/F ratio or anything like that.. can i? i can only view it.. correct? or no?

thanks a lot!

I also suggest installing the boost controller so it will stay around 15psi.

nice, thanks all

also, forgot to mention but i meant to just because i thought it odd... my car has almost 87k on it now, but i've checked the turbo a couple of times and not been able to move it up/down or in/out at ALL... seriously.. not at ALL... and it spins freely...
i just thought it was cool that my turbo is in such great shape (be it so dinky or not :p)

oh, and no one answered my logger question

can you actually tweak anything with pocketlogger software? or just view it?
thanks

You can only view it. If you have a 2G, then you need to get a dsmlink if you want to do any tweaking.

i installed my MBC today.. have it set to 16PSI and it still spikes a bit...

i have a question though.. i hooked up my MBC like the attached pic shows.. but when i disconnected the hose that was originally on the wastegate nipple and ran to a T..... i wasn't sure if i should cap that hose that i pulled off of the wastegate or not... so i did.. (i just bent it in half and zip-tied real tight
nothing seems to be acting funny.. but i just wanted to make sure that that doesn't need to breathe for any reason
thanks again :)

edit:
hehe, forgot image :p

i was just checkin out dsmlink on their website... $645?? ouch.. heh
but it's so damn cool! LOL..

i want to upgrade to an EVOIII 16g this summer... if i get a logger, what else do i need to "tweak" the aspects that the larger turbo will affect...?

thanks a lot!

Yes, capping that off one way or another is a good thing. The T from the wastegate nipple goes to the Boost Control Solenoid (BCS) and to a nipple on the turbo's compressor cover. My MBC kit included a couple of nipple plugs, so I used them to cap off the one on the cover and the BCS. If you don't, then you're losing air. Or perhaps sucking in unmetered air under vacuum. Either way, a hole in the compressor cover is a bad thing in my opinion!

A logger is exactly what it's named LOGGER it Logs and you can't adjust anything with it other than clearning check engine light codes (otherwise known as CEL's).

You would also need an SAFC to adjust the fuelcurve and setup on your car so calculate that in also. Also as far as the dsm links price goes... $645 is a small price to pay for the functions that program/setup has. Getting a 16g and upping boost will in turn need larger injectors and a fuel pump to support them.

Consider looking in the TUNING GUIDE for more detailed information on what you need to do.
