ok i'm new to this site and the dms world, but have been doing some research for my new 99 gs and came up with a upgrade list id like to do in the next good couple months. here's the list:

cold air intake off ebay with k&n
bored out throttle body, or throttle body of 1g. will the 1g work??
obx intake man
megan racing header-some say that the flange will leak, is there a way around this??
obx high flow cat- is this really a cat or just a straight pipe??
megan racing cat back
safc 2
strut tower bar-off ebay

just wondering if there is better products for the price range of those listed, and what kinda off performance gain will i be looking at?

TIA

No, but a Jeep throttle body will...

It's probably because of warpage, I would just look for a higher quality header (GReddy, DC Sports, etc.)

It's probably just a resonator (straight-through pipe).

You probably won't need this just yet.

10-15 hp...

i resent what you said about megan not being high quality.. From my experience with the company they have DEFINETLY come through with great bang for the buck. Prices that aren't 400% profit. Honestly it doesn't cost $300 for DC sports to weld together a couple exhaust pipes into a collector.

I didn't say Megan isn't high quality. If their 420A headers have leakage issues, however, then at least those 420A headers aren't high quality.

I merely suggested he look for headers from another company that uses different materials/maufacturing techniques to minimize the chances of flange warpage.

ok changed me list a bit after searchin some more. reading this site and searching is def the best thing for newbies to do, actually anyone for that mater. ok i am currently porting and polishing another stock intake manny instead of goin with the obx. and im gona go with a 55mm throttle body instead of the 60mm jeep, sources say 55 will be better than 60mm

Question: searched this forum and online and couldnt find a real highflow cat. all the ones ive found look like just straight pipes, no cat material. i hear the cat is good for low end, so i wana keep it, just want a highflow one. can some one please let me know where i can find one. tia

eBay does have them; but you need to know what you're looking for. Try searching for "2.25" high flow cat." Here's one I just found.

Notice how they show you the inside... that way you can see it isn't just a resonator. You don't even need to go as far as eBay though - most local muffler shops can install a high flow cat quickly and easily.

i would turbo it but i am trying to stay away from turbos right now. i just sold my Typhoon, and just want to deal with something a little reliable as a dd. thanx for the info on the cat. i guess after i get the exhaust up i can just take it to a shop for the cat.
