I'm a n00b to the world of dsm modding... I have a 1997 GSX. Anyway, the first mods I had done to the car were an injen intake system (for use with stock bov) and a greddy-s bov. Anyway, I had them done in a shop b/c I'm in college and am not home for very much time during breaks. Anyway, apparently the shop screwed up and vented the bov to atmosphere and I'm pissed b/c my car just failed emmissions. Anway, I complained and they said that the bov can't be reciculated. However, I think it can b/c the injen intake is designed for the stock bov (aka recirculating) and the bov was designed to fit stock and reciculate. I read through the tech aritcle on this too and I think it can be reciculated... Anyway, I've attached a high-res pic of my engine bay. Ho

1) there is no pic -
2) yes a type-s can be recirulated no prob.
do you still have the recirc hose ?

1) Still have the hose
2) Fixed the pic

Thanx for the quick reply

this really is a noob question. From the pic, did you think to take out that metal plug and put the hose back on the BOV? since that is what you were asking wasnt it? you wanted to know how to recirculate your BOV back into the intake tube when the hose is sitting there plugged up?

yeah, take out the plug and attatch that side to the BOV outlet....

the fact that you your first mods are the Injen intake and Greddy Type-S already tells us you're a noob.

thanks for the useful info. i know i'm a n00b...and i know my first mod should've been a boost gauge... anyway, ii was told by the shop that installed the bov/intake that it was "impssible"

You should've just installed it yourself. It would've taken probably half an hour or so. There are instructions on how to do it online. Check vfaq, and the "how-to" tech articles on this site next time you're doing an upgrade. That shop obviously doesn't know about that bov and the Eclipse.

yeah dude, sorry for ragin on ya, but these arent the hardest cars to work on. Tell ya what, you have a question about something you wanna install, you can PM me and ill help you personally to the best of my knowledge. :thumb:

you had a shop do that for you? I hope they didn't charge you too much, if i may ask how much did they charge you? I mean what kinda of shop couldn't have figured out that you DONT plug the recirculating hose?

Those are easy mods you could have done that your self, no matter how much of a newb you think you are. :)

Call them back and tell them they're morons and never take you car back there again.

explain this to me??? how is he a noob for puttin a hard intake pipe and filter, and a BOV that holds more boost than the useless stock BOV? I'll admit it was a silly question to ask, but the reasons you gave make no sense...

This thread makes me sad. Next time you want to install something get on here and ask anyone of us how to do it. please just check out how easy things are to hook up before you pay someone money to tell you they can't really do it, but they will take your money anyway.

I agree, why is he a noob for getting an aftermarked BOV and an intake? The only other thing he should really get before modding it more is a boost gauge, and he stated that in his post.

Anyways, the shop that installed the intake and BOV for you are retarded if they didn't think you could recirculate that BOV back into the intake. I would not take my car there again. How much did they charge you?
