DOES ANYONE NO WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE INJECTORS NOT TO WORK ON A 1.8 LITRE 1990 LASER[ IM RECIEVING FUEL TO THEM ] AND GETTING SPARK BUT WONT FIRE

first, stop typing in caps.

then, get a noid light (i think thats the right name) from a parts store. Hook it up to your injectors and see if its getting voltage to open up the valve. If thats happening, check to see if you are throwing any codes.

do you have a haynes? there is a procedure in there about how to test the injectors.

sorry bout the caps. i do got voltage to the injectors. would you happen to no the procedure for checking the codes my book does not show it for this car

One side of the injectors always has voltage - the other side is connected to ground by the ECU at firing time (it's not connected to anything not at firing time so you would read 12 volts on both sides of the injector then). If you can figure out the ECU side (usually the non red wire side) of the injector, you could quickly ground it (with a wire) and listen for the injector click. Don't just put 12v on one side and ground the other without a series resistor or you may burn it out. The engine code on the 1g 420A N/T can be read out by turning the ignition key on-off-on-off-on within 5 sec. Yours might be the same I don't know. The Service engine soon/malfunction lamp then blinks out the error code. Try it.

could being out of time cause the injectors not to fire [cause the timing belt had just been changed]

I don't see how changing TB would prevent injectors from firing unless the crank angle sensor or cam angle sensor was damaged or disconnected. I'm not sure where they are on a 1.8 (on a 2g turbo they are behind the TB cover and on the end of the cam shaft).

dont see any sensors by or around the area, my chiltons dont have much in the way of 1.8 litre in it any help still stumped

everyone is good, [still not injecting], pulled ecu and it looks good but cant really tell [NO BURN MARKS OR NOTHING] cranks reall good but wont fire the injectors

does anyone no were there is a web site to find out problems with 1.8 litre,s chiltons dont have much in it on them

I've never seen anything on the 1.8 (4G37 engine) but you might go to Plymouth or Mitsubishi or PM Doug99RS or find a library that has the Michell Auto Repair Manuals (you might get lucky). Since your problem sounds like it started with a TB change, have you checked it recently to make sure it still is going around properly and was installed correctly? Did the car run after the TB change - how long? Was the car running before TB change? Anything else done? Did any usual noise happen when it stopped running?

NOT IMPLYING CRANK WALK JUST LISTEN

You may have a bad crank angle sensor, It will cause your car to skip/sputter/and injectors will not fire on que! (I crank walked and had the same problem) How many miles u got on that bad boy?

no it didnt break it ran like sh...t couldnt go over 40 mph so had the belt changed and it ran but still no power shut it off then it wouldnt start back up. dont see no crank sensor on the dam thing no wiring nowhere around tb area

Again I don't know about the 1.8's but on the 2g's the crank angle sensor is inside the timing cover down around the crank and it's wire comes out the rear (near the top) of the TB cover. How do you know the injectors are not firing? Did you pull the plugs and not smell any gas?

i agree. if the CAS is broken, it'll be a pain in the ass to get the car started.

I think i diagnosed a problem like this on a friends talon. he was throwing ether into the engine to make it start. Turns out the CAS was shot.

Check it with an ohmeter. The procedure is in the haynes manual or check vfaq for it.

All i know is my car ran fine untill i changed the t-belt/water pump/tensinor
It went to hell after that, crank walked cas went out New engine time!!!

Try taking ur oil pan off and check for metal shavings, If you dont have the time/money/tools just get you a GOOD strong magnet and put it on your oil dipstick then try and crank the car a few times and then wipe clean with a paper towel let it soak in a few minutes then hold it under a lamp!!! If you see metal start looking for a new ride. Somtimes you can see when you take off the oil filter also!

I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP, but if i can figure out were the dam crank sensor is, that sounds like the most logical reason for not firing the injectors, i did put a oil change on it and didnt see no shavings on the oil filterwhen i dumped it
