Ok I was taking the laser out for a nice Sunday cruise to celebrate the fact that it finally passed smog and was running good. After a short stop I turned it back on and the CEL came on and it sounded like a go-kart. Well I got it home and checked the CEL and it was 41 fuel injector/wiring.. I take a look and sure enough there is a wire on one of the connectors that is so frayed that when I moved it to take a better look it broke off. So I know I need that. I then checked the resistance on all of my injectors just to make sure and found that the injector that had the frayed wire on it was also bad. It had like 8 ohms when it is supposed to be 2-3 ohms. This being said, I am a broke, cheap kinda guy and want to know if it is worth it to go find some connectors and a good injector at the scrap yard or should I buy new connectors and cough up the 65.00 Kragen auto parts wants for a re-manufactured injector? I know obviously that the new and re-manufactured ones would be ideal but being on a tight budget I am looking for a cheap fix that can get me by until I can afford the better stuff. Please let me know what you think.
