I HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING Poblem diagnosis

I would like to say hello to my fellow DSMers, I new to DSM but not to turbo cars, This will be my winter car because I blew the head on my turbo del sol.
I recently purchased a 95 gxs for $1,700, I couldn't pass up the offer, because I have always liked eclipses. The car however does have a couple of small issues, first it has 151,xxx on the motor and trans, and the auto trans seems to be slipping, I checked around on the site to see if this was a common occurrence but came up with no answer, second I am only getting around 140 miles per tank, the Cel light is on but I haven't been able to get the code read. I was thinking that the o2 sensors where probably the issue, also I took her on the highway last night and between 70-80 mph the car seems to shake a good bit after 80mph it stops, it seem like the vibration is coming form the front passenger side (possible wheel baring or lower ball joint?) I'm not sure

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

none of us can tell you what the CEL is for, youre going to have to get it checked somewhere. Also, if the tranny is slippin, there is no common problems to a slipping trans. Just take it to a shop and have it fixed.

You may want to hit Checker or another auto store that will lend you an obdII reader and print you out the outcome, you need to start there.

Not too sure about the trans, havent heard of any real common problems of slipping auto trans.

thank you for your quick responce, I know that the stock boost guage is not very accurate, but when I let off the gas the boost guage still reads 1/4 boost, I dont understand why it is showing up unless there is a major boost leak somewhere. But when there is no load present there should be no spool correct? Im have only every used t3/t4s before and this turbo is very small and spool with little to no pedal presure

The stock boost gauge doesn't read accurate at all. It shows you "boost" based on RPM vs airflow, NOT actual boost pressure. Don't look at it. All it is useful for is floating up and down.

Get a real boost gauge, it is the FIRST mod you should do to this car.

As for the trans, it might just be on it's way out. The car does have 150k+ miles on it. Any tranny service records?

The 2g's had a lower ball joint recall. Run the VIN to see if yours was done or not. If not, you run a high risk of it breaking on you.

The gas mileage sounds like a bad o2 sensor, probably the one up by the o2 housing (the one after the cat doesn't affect gas mileage, it just is there to say whether or not the cat is doing it's job).

If I were you I'd do all basic maintenance first. Motor with that many miles will benefit from it. Boost leaks are simple to check for, start at the throttle body elbow and check, then the lower IC pipe, then the compressor inlet.
