I was looking for this information a few months back. I wanted to know what was a good option for a daily driver 2g DSM. I was first going to go with lowering springs and shocks however the eibach pro kit for AWD had been discontinued. This was what I was reading in the forums as the best ride for a daily driver with a mild lowering to improve basic handling and appearance.

I went with the Tien Street Basis Z coilovers and they are *perfect* for this application. The coilovers are only $650 for 4. They are not adjustable other than ride height - they are simple a lowering coilover with matched spring rate/damper. The ride is incredibly comfortable, you would not know it wasn't a sporty stock setup. There is no bouncy nature to it.

I highly recommend this for a basic drop for appearance and mild performance. I don't know how much this would impact the ride but at the same time Energy urethane suspension bushings were installed. Hope this helps someone. I researched for a long time and would have loved to find a thread like this.

I've been looking for some coilovers for my fwd dsm. The price for the Tien look reasonable, but I am wondering if the adjustable megan racing for $865ish are worth the extra few bucks.

If you are the type to adjust them and dial them in, I think I would go with the adjustable megan racing for the extra cash just like you said. That makes sense to me.

idk why you like the tien. Their absolutely awful. I have them and hate them. I wish I never got them but it was the only suspension my mechanic could find from his distributors. I really wish the hks hypermax was avaliable for the DSM. I run that on my evo and thats a great suspension.

You have the street Basis Z? Tell me what you hate about them.

Cheapest is just adding lowering springs on the stock shocks.

If you dont care about performance then thats the way to go for looks as it dont do much else and almost all aftermarket springs barely bump the spring rates up if at all! I know when i spoke to eibach they said alot of their springs are oem specs and some are only a few LBS more then original.

You can get cheaper coilovers but if they last long we dont always know as its sometime pot luck. Megan have been proven but as mentioned they are likely just re branded and color change.

I run BC and they are known to run harsher due to the way they setup the coilovers which is fine for me and many others and you can get the spherical top mounts for these.

Feals are also a good choice but the price jumped a while back so if you get these you need to be dedicated in spending that much money to get the best out of your car
