The VRSF is a short route, thick ass core with your choice of BOV flange welded on. I've never heard of the company/brand you listed above. Have a link to it?

the piping in the kit you have listed is not only more of a "universal" kit which is going to make fitment a bi***, but it doesnt look like any of it is bead rolled either, so be prepared for blown IC pipes when you do manage to get it rigged together. I'd also be willing to bet that the couplers are not reinforced and the T-Bolt clamps that come with it will break when you tighten them. You're reading about experience here.

the VRSF kit is a double the price, but you can't top it bang for buck. it'll fit right and comes with everything you need to install it right the first time and forget about it

i have access to roll the ends and not useing the t clamps that come with it.... and with useing a fellow dsm member tech set up it looks like there is all the bends that i need just cant figure out if there is enough stright pipe to do both upper and lower pipes....... i allso have taking a lot of thime thinking and planing the bends right w/ the help of danyz250f from tech forum

plus i am getting the j pipe too

Do yourself a favor and get a kit that's made for the car. I bought a universal kit. I now have 10 couplers to make it fit the right way. It just looks like crap with all the couplers. The core I got was good though.

Eventually, I'm going to take it somewhere and get pipes TIG'd up to fit it so I only have 3 pipes total.

not to be a downer but i agree with these guys man your better of saving your money for a decent fmic kit that stuff is junk bealive me man i was in a tight budget too when i started my dsm build but brand name stuff is the way to go..

I'm not going to be the first one to tell you this, but your sentence and paragraph structures need work. One period works just fine at the end of a sentence. Plus, they won't look like run-ons and it makes your posts easier to read.

Alright. If you already have this whole thing planned out and ready to go, then I'm sure you can just hop online and checked out Summit Racing for some 2.5" straight piping if you run out, or something doesn't work. I don't understand what you're point was in asking for feedback if all you are going to do is shoot it down?

The moto for what you're about to experience is "You get what you pay for." Not to say that everything on ebay is shit, but this kit definitely is.

For starters, the core is a tube and fine design, and it's not very efficient at all. I have one. You're most likely going to heat soak it in no time at all. It's designed for LOW BOOST applications (10 lbs max or less).

The weakpoint in the pipng and clamps have already been pointed out to you, as well.

Hands down, if you want a quality intercooler setup, you're going to have to throw down a decent amount of cash for it. I can tell you that when I started putting together the build for my car, I quickly realized that doing EVERYTHING as cheap as possible was just not an option. When it was all said and done, I ended up spending FOUR TIMES that, cheap, $140 for the intercooler kit you are looking at. The kit is beautifully hand crafted, the piping is direct fit, the hardware is heavy duty, and the customer service was excellent. Hence, you get what you pay for.

It's not my intention to sound like a dick, but it is irritating when someone asks for feedback or help, and then has a counter argument for what they get in response.

There is A LOT of wisdom to be had on this site, man. Just listen to what the guys who have been through this shit before have to tell you. You'll be a lot happier in the end.

The end of the pipes are flared to hold the couplers on.

As for the BOV, a short piece of pipe with your BOVs adapter welded to it and inserted between these IC pipes will work.

Honestly, you don't even need a FMIC right now if your profile is correct. Yea, it will help a little if you are blowing enough air to keep the pressure up. You would be better to go with fuel and tuning after doing all the maintence first. Once your SMIC heatsoaks constantly, then go for an upgrade. It's best to buy once and get what you will need in the future. Sometimes that means spending more money now then spending twice the amount down the road when you found out you needed somehthing (in this case) more efficent.

AMEN! BROTHER!!:thumb:

first off i am not trying to have a argument, just was pointing out what i saw. I do want to thank all of you for your input on this! I am the type that will look at the whole package and point out what I see and then take all the end put to make a choice. I will be taking all your advice and wait to get a good kit.

I didn't think that sentence and paragraph structures was that important here, so I must say "I'm sorry" about that.

Well, In the Rules it says to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuations when posting in these forums!
Not to say people dont do it, and not to yell at you, but these rules are set to keep the threads professional! All Im saying is that isn't looked down on as bad! So be careful. ;)

As for the OP, im glad you're saving you money for a nice, proven kit!
Goodluck man.

thanks. I was starting to feel a little ganged up on there for a min. I think I'll spend the $140 on some strut bars and dressing up the motor, think i should at least hard pipe, with the use of a 2g throttle body elbow, over to the smic?

Just wait it out man. The turbo you have can squeeze a nice amount of power out of it with the right supporting mods. Plenty of other things to buy.

Since your on a budget, I'll post some things that are on ebay that WORK:

Metal Intake Pipe
Aluminum Radiator
Cat-Back Exhaust
Down-pipe
Test Pipe

Hard piping will help, but I've noticed the 1g's have slightly better stock piping compared to a 2g. So no rush on that. But just follow the 1g upgrade path in the tech region.

The aluminum radation isn't exactly "proven" to be more efficent at cooling over the stock. I have a FMIC and using the stock rad and my temps stay normal. Exhaust on the otherhand will be one of the best upgrades you can do and would do that OP. 2.5 or 3" depending on what you want for power.

I would wait on the intake pipe as well until you figure out what turbo you want to go with and if you want to go speed density and get rid of the MAF down the road like I plan on doing. The Forced Performance 4" intake is a nice piece if you do decide to get one.

thanks! I am changing the stock exhaust to 3" from turbo back with a hi flow cat and stock style muffler, because I don't want the loud sounding muffler. I also will be changing to a o2 dump pipe as well. I am very impressed with the upgrade path listed here on this site and will be following it for the most part.

This is not the first race/daily driven car I have built but it will be the first dsm I have done. I am looking forward to this build due to the fact that i LOVE the 1g gsx's and have been waiting for a long time to get my hands on another one. I had one about 10 yrs ago that was already built but it was run hard and other then the motor and drive train the car was falling apart, so I ended up trading it back in for another car. It was quick as hell though. I had a weekend of LOTS of fun before I traded it back in!!

I have been wondering how do I become a proven member btw?

14 year old cars, our radiators are going to need replaced sooner rather than later. Especially mine. I plan on getting the aluminum for $150 for bling reasons and no leak reasons. I would imagine a 1g's radiator is older as well.

But yes, make a goal/estimate on what mod route you would like to do and try to plan ahead. It will save you money in the long run as well as valuable time.

I can understand replacing it with an aftermarket unit if the OEM one is shot but it's hard for the radiator to corrode though unless you use non-distilled water. Anyway, if the aftermartket is cheaper then I'll get one when mine decides to stop cooling properly or need more room next to my HX40 when I throw that on.
