Ignition fuse keeps popping, Starts sometimes, Lights pulsate.

Hey tuners,

Need help getting a 2g (1995 tsi AWD) running again, Got this car for pretty cheap, it was running and driving fine untill she stopped starting and started popping ignition fuses. Heres a quick run down!

-The car will blow the ignition fuse ONLY if you hold the car to the "on" position it sits fine on "acc" power and will not blow the fuse.

-The car will start after sitting for awhile, we got it to not blow the fuse if you go from "Acc" to "on" in one quick motion then let off again, and you can see if the car will start at random times when it wants to. But if you hold the key to start it will blow as always.

-Once the car is on and running you can hold the RPM's at about 3 grand and all the lights will pulsate (head lights, dome, cluster, ect..) I know it sounds like the alternator failing or the little black box on the back of it.

-Once running and driving if you try to boost the car it will fall on its face and loose all power at about 4k, stumbles/cuts.

So far Iv checked a lot of the grounds, sanded and made them all tight. Also the battery will put out about 14.7 around idle 15.7 while slightly on the gas.

your voltage regulater in the alt is failing

+1 disconnect the power wire to the alt and pull the main wire from the starter (but if there's an acc wire routed to the starter one make sure and leave them together) then turn the key to start posttion or where ever it blows. If everthing is fine but there's just no starter you'll know it's either the alt or starter but i'm willing to put money on the reg in the alt or the winding in the starter (depending on exactly when it poipes the fuse)

Took the Alternator out tonight, failed all 3 tests at the shop, New one go's in tomm morning and Ill try the starter thing out.

Anyway, The lights pulsating went away and it runs a bit better, I re-gaped the plugs my shop TOLD me were pre-gaped and they were at something crazy like .37 so there back to .28 and its boosting fine, Now the starting problem is still there! so I'm taking the starter off now and trying to look for bad connections, Funny thing is it won't start on the ground but when I jack it up for some odd reason it starts! I don't get it.. Ill report back.

Starter and alternator both changed out fixed all problems, thanks guys.
