Ok, heres the back story.... I have a 95 talon awd with a 6bolt swap. i was using a 2g coil pack with a 2g dsmchipped ecu. I had never started it with the dsmchip but i wired it up right and no clicking or anything. Now i go to start it and the ignition coil starts to smoke heavily. huh? so i pulled it out and wired it up so that it was on top of the engine and i could see what happened. tried to start it again and smoked huge! i unpluged it and tested the ohm's looked ok from the multimeter, so maybe its the plug order. So can anyone tell me the plug order fora 2g with a 6 bolt. just so i can check. leading into the next thing, i swapped the plug order and it sparked and lit up. pulling the plug wires i found the #1 wire metal thing inside the rubber had broke off. could this be causing the wires to short or build up resistance making them melt the internals of the ignition coil? thanks everyone sorry it was so long, just trying to be specific.

The only way a coil can burn up is if there's an internal short in it or way too much voltage is applied. Yours must be a short. The 2g coil primary should read 0.77-0.86 ohms but it's still possible to get a short after voltage is applied or when it heats up. Replace it. BTW what year engine and power transistor are you using?

Thanks for the reply. I am probably using the stock 95 power transistor, but i dont know where or what it is to be honest. if you tell me i can look to be more specefic. I am also using the stock grounding straps but i think i will add one more through out the engine bay today. My engine was I *think* a 92 block, It was custom built by ffwdconnection through darren. You can see it at http://www.ffwdconnection.com/20new.shtml its the yellow one at the bottom. can you guys tell me the proper plug wire order for a 1g in a 2g with a 2g coil pack and a 1g cas? just so i can make sure i have it right. thanks alot tuners for helping!!
