ok here is the deal, i have a 91tsi awd, it has a jdm 6bolt in it with less than 70k, i belive the balance shaft is goin out so im gonna pull out the motor and fix a few issues i have goin on, my question is this..before i pull the motor out im gonna do a compression check, if the numbers are good. what woukd you guys do?

throw it back in with a new gasket set or do a stock rebuild? my power goals are 330-350awhp on a mustang dyno. keep in mind i only have 1200 to work with.. i was conisidering a forged build but i might not have enough money to tune it and all that.

im running 1000cc injectors, walbro fuel pump, evolll 16g,2g manifold, 3inch turbo back exhaust and ill be tuning with aem emas v1.

things i need to do is, get intercooler piping made, BSEK, xtd clutch and tuning.. so should i do a stock rebuild and have everything that i want done or built bottom end and not have enough money for tuning or intercooler pipes

i know that in the end its all up to me but if you were in my position what would you do? im leaning on stock rebuild then when i finish school in 2 years ill be able to throw money on the car , at the moment im on a hard place, so im thinking of stock rebuild and make it last awhile longer to get me thru school then go all out once i have a job that will pay me goon not this ded end jobs im stuck at at the moment

oh and should i do stock rebuild or .20 over rebuild with npr pistons?

2g pistons for slightly higher compression and then leave the rest stock. A cam can be used as a crutch if needed. I would use a GM MAF as well.

You don't need to worry about the bottom end for quite some time. I'd also consider a holset like a hx35 or hy35, go for abouy 100 more horse power for a BIT more. You can buy adapters and use the 2g manifold, just make sure you port it.

IF it doesn't burn oil and has good compression than i wouldn't touch the bottom end. I would figure what is going on with the balance shafts and reseal the bottom end.

It wouldn't hurt to pull the lower end apart to at least check everything even if there are no problems. After some of the stuff I've seen people sell that was "good" ... I check EVERYTHING now.

Once you remove the oil pan you will have a good idea of the condition of the bearings. If there is a bearing problem there will be metal in the pan and most likely a discolored rod. You can also remove the caps one by one and check the bearings. There is ABSOLUTLY no reason to pull the whole thing apart to inspect things if it has good compression and good bearings. That is wasting time and money.

burning oil can be a result of leaking valve seals in the cylinder head in addition to a bottom end that is not in spec

JDM Huh? You absolutely do not need a built bottom end for your power goals. Do a BSE and check your bearings then call it a day for the short block. As far as the head goes I would not touch it either. Your set up should be just fine. Get dsmlink and get it tuned. AEM is way over kill for what you need and its a pain to tune with. Make sure you have some sort of AFPR to help regulate that walbro fuel pump.

Cool, thanks guys, I have to pull the motor regardles cause three axel nracket that bolts to the back of the block has broken bolts in it..so I need to pull the motor and fix that, replace bearings then go from there...thanks guys..

And sorry I just saw I posted the thread in the wrong section...btw I'm trading the aem for v3 full with sd set up
