hey guys
im in need of some advice:pray:

my car idles at 3k and it gives gas by itself...any ideas at would could be causing this?

i took out my spark plugs and they were filthy. as i took them out... there was dirt and oil all over them... does this mean that i need a new headgasket? also does anybody have a really descriptive diagram of the throttle body... i found a couple of hoses that arent connected to anything... could that be the reason why im idlin so high?

and i wanna thank u guys in advance, i really appreciate it... i'd really like to come up to meets and show off my car when she's good and well... =)

Change your valve cover gaskets and get new plugs while you're at it.
Also make sure your throttle cable isn't getting stuck on anything.

newbie question

wats a tps?...LOL

Throttle position sensor... it's a flat sensor mounted on the throttle body. It's positioned directly across from the pulley to which the throttle cable connects. Don't confuse it with the idle air controller (IAC) which is also mounted on the throttle body, but lower.

also does anybody have a really descriptive diagram of the throttle body... i found a couple of hoses that arent connected to anything...

That is probably your problem. Vacuum leak. Make sure all your hoses are connected up, and that there aren't any open ports on the intake manifold or throttle body.

There's only one vacuum port on the throttle body, the "P" port. It connects to the EVAP system under the passenger's side fender.

That open port on your intake manifold is the problem. There is supposed to be a evap line going there. Either block it off or reconnect the hose there.

There is a sticker under your hood that shows where all the vacuum lines go.

Just going through quick, but you have multiple vac leaks. Just to check, block off the port on the TB, the port that the broken hard vac line goes to (which should be on the triple tree) and the other port on the triple tree.

Block these off and see how she runs. I can explain locations later (or others can)

Gotta roll,

Looks like you got some fixin' to do yet. Let's see hacked up and misdirected vac lines, upside down cam sensor and duct taped intake for good measure :thumb:

Soooo, OP what's the real story on this car. C'mon we're all friends here, you can tell us. I'm thinking it may even help with your problems. Your pics were pretty telling.
