idles fine but wont rev up past 3 grand

95 eclipse gst.i just bought this car with all this stuff done to it so i dont really know alot about the car.it has a s-afc II and in karman it will rev up like normal but any of the other settings it wont rev past 2500.i was told it was suppost to be in hot wire mode.my boost gauge only showing 4 pounds no matter what setting or boost is on.it has a mbc so im not sure either.it does have a exhaust leak but not real bad now that i put some bolts back in.one of the fuel injectors was unpluged and it helped some but its still not right after hooking it back up.can anyone help me out or live in the birmingham ,al area that will come look at it? oh yeah it has a mass air flow sensor off a chevy malibu.the code that keeps coming up is something to do with the cooling.the cooling light is on to.air fuel gauge is spiked out to the rich side and it smokes like a mad man. any info would be good right now.i just replaced the mass air flow sensor but nothing changed.if i come up with anything else i will post.thanks

Karmen is the one our cars use. Good thing you re-hooked up the injector. Sounds like you have a mess. What does the smoke look like and smell and where is it coming from?

its white and its coming out the exhaust.there is a little coming out from where the downpipe and turbo hook up.

sounds like the ecu isnt getting a maf signal. if it doesnt see one your car will run super rich and wont rev past 3... i always forget to plug mine back in after i work on it z

You are definately off in your timing. And probably have a blown HG. Potentially bent valves. I've never heard of your Chevy Malibu sensor. Im guessing you would need something to tune or translate the signal from that. I may be wrong on this though.

are you sure your crank was rotated to TDC when you took that picture... and if you were a whole tooth off you would hear the valves hitting the pistons and i dont think it would idle fine either... like i said make sure your ecu is getting a maf signal.

oh yeah no i didnt check for the tdc.i just looked at it and seen the cam pins was on top and my lines didnt match.i have noticed that the starter has trouble starting the motor.no i dont hear any noises coming from the motor.and the battery has a full charge.i thought it was low but its been on charge alnight and it still does it.it only smokes when you give it gas and when its warmed up a little. the maf is pluged up,i just put in a new one.there is a electric box(im guessing its for the safcII) thats plugs into my mafs and it plugs into the factory mafs plug.it may have a loose wire.im going to check when i get home.

i bought this car used so i dont have any manuals on any of the parts this thing has on it.does anyone know what wires goes to the car for this safcII?IM GOING TO LOOK AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE RIGHT AND THAT I DONT HAVE A LOOSE WIRE. oops sorry about that.i hit the cap lock

it ran hot the first day i got it.i found the fuse and it was bad.i changed it and they come on now.but they dont cut off unless u cut the car switch off.

oh and as far as idling.in karman it idles high i think around 1500 to 2000 rpms and in hot wire it idles around 1100 but in hot wire if you give it gas it died out.it was only leting me go up to 2500 to 3000 in hot wire before i found that fuel injectore wire was cut.in karman it will rev up now but it dont boost up.you can drive it in karman mode.its only boosting up to around 5psi and i can turn the boost up or down and thats all the boost its makes.my air/fuel gauge is spiked to the rich side and i think something is wrong with my oil pressure because both gauges arent working.

if you just bought the car i would suggest contacting the guy you got it from. he might be able to set you in the right direction as he is the one who put it together.

now after i unpluged and pluged some plugs.on hot wire it sounds right until it gets up to around 3 grand before it start messing up.here is a few videos i tryd to take with my cellphone.sorry it was dark so there now real good.its still running at 2100 on karman.i noticed that after the car sits awhile the pedal is very hard to push down.i dont know whats up with that or if it has anything to do with it.

hey just to let everybody know.its the turbo!!turbo is bad.i can almost pull the wheel out.the shaft didnt brake but as soon as it starts to build boost it blow back out the exhaust side. thanks for all the info and help.
