Ok so here it goes:

My girlfriend has had nightmare car issues in the past so when I met her we got rid of a blown motor 85 supra and I suggested a 1g N/A eclipse. I had 3 eclipses up to 250k miles no issues they served me well so I thought this would work for her. Found a 130k automatic 91' eclipse in Sacramento from a tow yard lein sale talked him down to $1000 no issues.

We get it home (2 hours) and the car was bogging. Felt like it was bad gas so a few days later it was running better thought I had scored.

The car however when firing it up has an idle surge where it revs up and down until it's warmed up or you take it out of park.

Checked the spark plug wires battery alternator checked out fine. Replaced spark plugs. Replaced fuel filter.

The car stalled on her 20 mile commute and she was stranded but it fired up later and drove fine.

This scenario happened 3 more times on different days until she had it towed by AAA. They diagnosed a bad fuel pump from a bad internal fuel filter. I spent $200 on pump tools and supplies and did the work myself (I'm no mechanic).

Everything was great until days later it stalled again. Did research on the old ISC and tested and determined one of the prongs gave no resistance. Her boss went off on me on how I'm putting her life in jeopardy.

She took it to a mechanic before letting me replace the isc and after a week said they can't hook the car up its too old.

Get the car back and she takes it to someone else who determines it's the ISC. (DUH) So they wanted to charge $500 parts and labor I get an ISC from a 99 that tested fine and the guy charges her $160 to put it on (unbelievable).

The result? Still happening and she's pissed.

She doesn't want to deal with any of it anymore and I feel like once this issue is resolved the car could give her 60k miles no issues like mine did.

So she wants to sell it but I plan on visiting her and taking the car and just going through it myself using research to try and diagnose this issue.

I'm asking for suggestions methods procedures pictures links part names diagnosis steps if possible start to finish on what my best steps would be to ensure I can fix this car so it just gets her to work.

Anyway thanks in advance !
