Thank you SinaiTSI!! The advice I received from SinaiTSI fixed my idle surge problem!!

SinaiTSI quote. "I'm having the same exact problem as you and so did a guy I knew and he said that he loosened his throttle cable a little bit and it fixed the problem. I guess apparently it was a little too tight and the high temperatures during the summer caused it to "stick" open a little bit. I just loosened mine today to see how it works out. I'm hoping this fixes the problem as it did my friend's. Try this and see how it works out for you."

I did exactly that, loosened the throttle cable bracket just a little bit. That fixed it! I have spent the last 3 months trying to figure it out. No more 2500 RPM's for me:thumb:

Anyway, I know a lot of DSM owners experience idle surge, so give this a try, it worked for me.

In the pic, loosen the two bolts and release a little tension on the throttle cable bracket and retighten.

Soo all i do is loosen them and leave them alone?
Or do i loosen them, adjust the cable then tighten again?
Will try this out tomorrow.. thanks.

What you do is loosen the bolts holding the throttle cable bracket, loosen the cable a bit, (meaning move the bracket towards the TB) and then re-tighten the throttle cable bracket bolts so that bracket won't move anywhere.

Thanks for posting this. I was actually thinking about it but to be quite honest I was too lazy. Hopefully this will help a lot of people. :thumb:

I have been having a problem with high idle as well. When does your idle happen though? Mine starts to idle at 750 rpm when I start it up but after I drive it for 10-30 mins it idles to 2k - 3k rpm.

Also did your engines over heat when this idle jumped up?

My engine is over heating ad I thought it may have something to do with the rpm's jumping up.

I will try this idea when I find out when others was idle high if it was just turning on the car or driving for like 10 mins - 30 mins

The way you described what is happening to your idle sounds exactly like what happened to mine and a few other guys that did this to fix their problem. This is for both cars, 1g and 2g.

Basically this is what happens, when the car is running hotter than usual, the throttle body is getting more air than it should and which is why the car will idle high. I don't know why but it seems that if the throttle cable is too tight in the first place, it will be prone to "stick" during hot conditions. This is why I see this as a summer problem, because our cars are running hotter than usual and since I never had a problem with this during the winter. I also don't believe this to be the only cause for the car to overheat, but it certainly doesn't make things better when your car is allready running hot. During a long trip I had, my car was overheating and idling high, like 2k-3k rpms. I put on a bigger puller fan than I originally had and loosened my throttle cable and bit and it fixed everything. Maintains the right idle at a stop and no more overheating. Let me know if everything works out for you.

Dude thanks a lot!!! I'm going to try this out tonight. One other question though.

Did your car over heat due to the high rpm's? (Like 15 mins of driving it)

My car seems to be over heating and the fans are running, theres coolant, ad its after like 15 mins of driving it begins to over heating.

I'm asking this because yes I'm having this problem but because like you said my rpm's seem to go high at the same time.

I don't believe the idle to be the only reason for overheating really, I think it was a combination of my new FMIC, only 1 fan, the 95+ degree temperature outside and the high idle. What I did was adjust the throttle cable and install a larger fan that pushed more cfm. Ever since then, I haven't had a high idle or the overheating problem. Let me know if you need anything else.
