Idle Rpms?

Your DSM should Idle at 750RPM.

my auto idles a bit higher than 750 when it is in park then as soon as i put it in drive it drops right down to 750 exactly  Is this normal??

your rpm guage is not 100% accurate. My e-01 and dsmlink show different values than the guage. the guage seems to be between 100 and 150rpm high.

Your DSM should Idle at 750RPM.

wrong!!

your dsm should idle between 650 being the lowest and about 950 being the highest. about the 750 he was right to a point, u wanna be right in that area. IT IS NOT GOING TO IDLE AT 750 RPM'S ON THE DOT!!!

on a cold start it will idle above 1,000 rpm's which is normal. once the coolant flow to the throttle body warms up the idle will kick down. dsm's also surge, which is normal. it should not surge too extrmem. usually plus or minus about 30 rpm's.

my dsm when fully warm and has been running/driving for a while idles at about 840-910 rpm's. when its warm but hasnt been driving too long i usually idle at about 650-750ish. u gotta realize once u install higher flowing (bigger diameter) ic pipes, intake pipe u allow air to flow to the motor alot easier which can raise your idle. then u have things like opening up your exhaust. bigger piping, no cat, and so forth which can cause a little bit lower idle (less backpressure). but all in all u wanna be right about where i say at an idle in park or in drive at a stop. if your not u can always play with your BISS screw. if u loosen it your idle will raise, tighten it and your idle will lower. at a normal idle u should also see a 15-18 in hg in vaccuum. if your idle is a little bit higher than normal.......your vaccuum will also be a little bit higher than normal. this is all considering u still have stock cams. with hks cams i believe vaccuum will be lower at idle depending on what cams u go with. ill let the guys with hks cams answer that one. alright ive provided enough info, almost too much, LOL. anywho hope i helped.

cause just providing a simple answer such as (750) is not of much help. :dsm:

The official measurements per the factory service manual are

750+/- 100rpms mine Idles perfect inbetween about 750-775
