idle problems after 2g mas conversion on a '90 dsm

alright, so i finally get done with the mass airflow conversion from 1g to 2g, and i go to start up my car and it would only run for 5 seconds, and then die, which lead me to believe it was a maf problem, so i cut open the loom and realize i connected all of the wires correctly, except i connected the pin 1 to another wire, when the diy page says not to, so i cut it, and now it will run, but it will not keep a steady idle, could this be because pin 1 is the idle position switch, or does it really not need it? i wanna go ride it and dont want to mess anything up by driving with it like this, any ideas? ps sorry for the long post

Did you account for the different signal for a given amount of air that the 2g mas sends? if not you are probably running reeeealy lean

I don't see an SAFC in your sig. Are you running the stock inj? If so, then your car is about 18-20% lean. You are going to be running dangerously lean in open loop at WOT. You are also in open loop until your car warms up, so you are running really lean and that's why it won't run. Instead of 14.7:1 you are probably closer to 17.5:1. Cold start enrichment has my car around 12:1 so you far from having enough fuel to keep it running cold...

The erratic idle is the ECU trying a bunch of different things trying to get it to run a stoich mixture. The fuel trims are all over the place and it is pulling/adding timing to help stabilize the idle, the ISC is moving all over the place, it probably forced open loop when it finally gave up in closed loop and its really lean in open loop.

so if i were to get some 560's or 550 cc injectors, do you think that would even it out, or would i just be better off getting dsm link? i dont want to go the piggy back rout, so an safc is out of the question

are both honeycombs in 2-g mas needs to have both in there or you will have problems. unlike a 1-g

Yes the 550 inj will pretty much balance out the 2G MAS in a 1G problem. I just recently stumbled upon some info that says RC inj are pressure tested and rated at ~50 psi, so they won't perform much different than stock inj at stock pressure. Get some FIC 550s.

awesome, i have some injectors in my garage, idk what size, theyre brown tops, which i believe to be either n/t 240's or 560s, ill have to do some research... i know blue tops are stock 450's for 4g63t but not sure about brown.
