Idle Problems 1992 Eagle Talon TSI

Whenever I start my car the rpm's shoot up to redline right away. once and awhile it will be fine, and I'll drive it and boost it, and then it will shoot to redline again. Pushing down the clutch or putting it in to gear does not stop the problem. If anyone else has had related problems like this please let me know. I have no idea what the heck is wrong with my car.

Have you check the throttle cable to make sure it's not holding the throttle partially open? Is there anything around the throttle area that can possibly leave it open when your foot is off the gas?

agree with quasi mondo. check the throttle cable. also, see if there's anyhting in the throttle body that would keep the throttle plate from moving freely.
