idle issue

First, it revs to about 2k when cold, then goes to 1k when at operating temperature, but the rpms drop to like 500 or below and the car will stall. When it does this, for some reason, the speakers make a fuzzy popping noise. What could this be, its driving me bananas. The plug wires look rather old, 7mm gray. It does have new ngk 6bpre plugs.

i had same problem on my car. im pretty sure is my isc motor.but a 4$ screw and oring for my idle adjusting srew helped my idle a whole lot keeping my idle even.as far as your speakers is probably loose wires or blown speakers.nothinng to do with idle

u don't think I have bad plug wires? Causing the problem.

im having the EXACT same problem. i checked and i saw that my BOV recirc hose is ripped AGAIN. so once i fix that it should fix my stalling after boost problem. and then the problem with my cold start=2k and warm=500k and or stall.... i have no clue. my water temp gauge stopped working so i bought one and the water wont even be 180 degrees and it will start to happen.

o and my speakers used to buzz when i was decelarating but that was the aux port in the back of my radio had a loose ground

mine does this exact same thing, the factory temp stays at normal levels. I dunno, I'm keep searching.

I think your speakers is a loose connection. You have a vacuum leak some were. I have the same problem and i have a new iac tps and ips. Just rebuilt the tp and new intake manifold gasket. Did all this and now it does the same thing yours does. When its warm it dies all the time and when its cold out it revs up and down alot. I dont get it i think its a boost leak some wear.

i have no boost leaks, i did however change my fuel filter yesterday along with oil change(royal purp.) to my suprise when i took off my biss it was gummy, not greasy, like hard gum on it, so i cleaned it greased it changed the O ring again. and its alittle bit more stable now but i took the TB off and cleaned that too, and that seemed to have steadied my rpms. do u guys have your EGR blocked? or even any vac lines?

I welded up my egr so i new it wouldn't leak and i have deleted all my vacuum line other than the waste gate and the bov and the fuel pressure regulator.

yes iv also done the same. im going to buy a trans temp gauge because i think my trans gets hotter, faster. making my engine hot faster. i timed it the other day for it to go to 190 degrees it needs about 5 min of idle time and from turning it on, driving it with out boosting 2 min. im just shooting in the dark but i think its getting hot too fast

bump this thread. I don't know if anyone resolved this issue, but I'm having the same problem. When I first start it up after it's sat for a while, it idles fine. As soon as I drive and then stop, it drops to almost zero, almost stalling, and then hangs at around 500 rpm, seeming to struggle to stay running. It really does sound like it has a cammed lope to it. The car runs great otherwise. However, when I'm in like 2nd gear, and let it coast, it does buck a bit, but not horribly. I just got rid of my vaccum lines, did a boost leak test. I also removed my MBC, and the car is only boosting 9-10 psi, so I don't have any leaks. New plugs and wires.

im still having the same fing issue, i replaced the biss, it helped some..but still does it. there is a proper way of adjusting it, u just can't turn it in and out, itll burn up the isc. u have to ground the computers control over the idle, then set the base. its in the vfaq or whatever.

HI Guys,

I have had the same problem lately. To the point I almost was going to give up. It was so frustrating because the alternater was recently changed to stop the dash lights from coming on, which fixed that problem, then it kept stalling on me from time to time, especially when sitting in traffic. It started to idol funny and stall. It started back up, but last few days with the heat kept wanting to die while driving. My mechanic cleaned the Throttle port, change the gas filter, cleaned the idol motor and checked for leaks( which there's none). Now since having it back, she runs better and idols more normal & all with any wierd smells.

I had just installed a new sterio & speakers a month ago & thought myself maybe wires weren't grounded right, but I think if that were the case the sterio would stop working also.

Im hoping my problems are behind me for now.

Hi there, I got the same issues as you and I wanted to know if anybody know what to do. So I don't need to post my detail because it seems to be already mentionned. One of my friend told me that my car may possibly need an intake cleaning, or bad o2 sensor, or the need to clean the fuel injector. It'll be great to have a solution. I didn't made any mod on the car at all.
