I finally got my Talon running after 6 months. Now it idles up and down. It goes up to 1500rpms then goes back to 1000rpms over and over. What can it be? Hopefully not my ecu caps.

HOw do you know when the caps are going bad? I just looked at mine but don't notice anything.

if it is a 1G then look on the top of your engine there should be a lil hole with a screw in it tighten that screw and the problem should go away I had the same problem with my 1G DSM.

THAT was easy to understand a screw on top or your engine....is it the one under that black plug on my intake manifold...? :talon:

when it happened to me it was like i was totally out of gas, the car wouldn't start and if it did it would run for a second until i put it in drive... :thumbdown

I believe the IAC is right by the throttle body intake manifold, has the 4 vacuum lines going into it. I have the Shop Manual so it is easier, but I believe on www.vfaq.com has it on there if you search. I put sealer in mine to make sure the screw never moves again. I did have to raplace the actual unit on my sister's 1g however. And on vfaq.com they have I believe a method to check if it works by checking with an olm-meter. The screw if I remember is either black or a grey color. Hope that helps if not check the site for more info.

Oh sh.t. You guy gonna kill me. I forgot to plug the ISC in. Oops. I finally started it after 6 months and was so anxious to put it all back together that I forgot to plug that in. Also I forgot to put the vac hose to the bov and forgot to tighten the hose clamps around the intake elbow. It runs normal now. Just not as strong as it did 6 months ago though. Maybe I got a boost leak.

At this point in time it's easy, if they're original they are going bad. Depending on how thick the conformal coating is you might not see leakage until a bit of damage is done. One of the ISC traces runs right under the cap closest to the heatsink. I've seen cases where the cap leaked, shorted the ISC trace to +12v and blew the driver but you couldn't see any leakage until the cap was removed because the coating kept it trapped under the cap.
