idle bad after fill up

today i went to fill up my car with gas, i used top grade just like you suppose to use, anyways went to start my car idle sucked then car went dead had to restart 2 more times and rev. it a little for it to go back to normal, can anyone tell me what it could be, i was thinking it might be the fuel filter(but thats just me) if u have any ideas that would help alot. ( it also happens with the fuel cap off when tryed at home)

Which has nothing to do with it. The gas doesn't magically appear at the engine just because you filled up. The old gas was still in the line.

Your question has nothing to do with the gas, because although that's what you remember doing, what you also did was shut off the engine and re-start it- the condition which puts the most stress on your timing belt.
Confirm that you haven't jumped timing, and then check for stored ECU trouble codes.
