So I just got a brand new Evo III 16g in, didn't want anything big or fancy but wanted a slight upgrade. All new hardware, gaskets, everything for it. I have EVERYTHING to install it but one bolt that goes through the exhaust manifold that bolts it to the turbo. Alright, I guess I can reuse ONE bolt. So I clean the threads, I lubricate it up and I get two other bolts in before I start threading this one in. As it's threading in, all is going well until it gets further down, the bolt is showing out the other side of the turbo aaaaand BAM starts to cross thread out of nowhere. I'm thinking, what the hell!

At this point I know I'm f*ed, so I back the bolt up, go forward, back it up an 1/8th turn more, go forward, back it up and 1/8th turn more, go forward, back it up a *SNAP* :| This is the first time I've honestly actually almost thrown up I was so pissed. I launched that bolt into the air, took the other two out, head down to the machine shop for $105 worth of bolt removal that took them 3 hours and a helicoil on a brand new exhaust housing. I'm picking the turbo back up again tomorrow and the final bolt should be in from Mitsubishi on Friday.

Talk about your pissers, one reused bolt causes this much crap, I should have had my car running yesterday. God I just wanna drive it, that's it! Drive it and not have any problems. Then again I did buy an 18 year old DSM. :beatentodeath:

On top of it all, I just got a text message from my boss "F*CKYOUF*CKYOU"

Lets call and see what this is all about.

Amazing, I just called her up and she said "oh sh*t! I'm sorry, I ment to send that to my husband!"

I love hearing the stories of those two. Last week she broke the alarm clock throwing it at him, and he threw something back at her and missed and broke the bedroom window.

What a fantastic relationship.

Edit:

He also literally threw the fridge down the basement steps when she asked him to move it, he's also broken the back door, put numerous holes in the walls, so on and so forth.

Oh God, the classic one though. She just planted roses in front of her house and he walks up to her:

Husband - So did planting those make you feel better?
Her - No, because they won't f*ck me tonight either!

I take it he's pretty strong to throw a person at her? and a fridge...

Whoops, fixed.

Yeah, the guy is nobody I'd want to screw with. He's a good ole southern farm raised racist son of a gun. He's on probation for the next 5 years and I don't want to know why.

It doesn't mean he's a badass. He probly beat her or somthing if he's throwing a fridge at her. I'd say det him out of the way and go for your boss..LOL

Don't sweat it. I actually think you got lucky that only one bolt got seized in there.

The first time it happend to me, I had all 3 of my bolts seize in there when I had just got it!!!! . With brand new bolts too! The only reason the other one did not get seized was because i re-used the long stud/nut combo. So off to the machine shop i went. $40 later I had 2 helicoils and 1 hole with threads that somehow they managed to save. Everything went back on smoothly..... or so I thought.

The next time it happend, I had just got my FP manifold. The first thing i did was take out all the nuts from the old manifold to head. That was cakewalk. The I started on the turbo bolts. The first couple turns were smooth, but then I heard a sweak the bolt stopped turning. I knew what had happend. I was pissed. So I said forget it and went on to the next ones. The same shit happend to the other 2.

Back to the machine shop I went. But this time i just told them to take the bolts out and leave holes. I went to the hard ware store and got long bolts and nuts and called it a day. Lesson learned.

Actually it would be a fair match I think. They could both really do some damage to eachother, but all in all, I think she's the crazy one and he would go down.

Yeah but still, what a pain in the ass! Plus, I'm not a huge fan of having to snake under the turbo to keep the nut from twisting with the bolt. I'd rather just go with the stock threads until this happens to me again tomorrow and I get pissed off enough to take your advice.

It's fantastic because they're both trying to give up drinking AND smoking at the same time. He HAS to give up drinking because of his probation, and smoking because he's having some real health problems right now. She's giving up drinking for him, and smoking just to try to give up smoking.

God, she was going OFF at everybody one day, finally I had enough and went into her office and told her "Either start smoking, or start bleeding!" I just walk away and you can hear her start to bust up laughing. It's a good thing we like each other or work would just suck.
