I found this TD-04 turbo that the mechanic said they took it off of a turbo 8 valve 4G63. It has 8 valve headers and everything is all stock.

As I want to boost my NA 6-bolt 1G to 2-3 PSI, I feel like this is a very suitable turbo for me and it will support more boost when I put in turbo pistons.

Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks ❤️

It's an 11B, off of a 4D56TD engine. It's smaller than a 14B, so it'll make less power than that turbo will. I suppose it would be okay, but with all the fab work you'd have to do better off just sourcing a 14B or something else.

I don't know, anything other than this are quite expensive and out of my budget for what I wanna do.

How much would the max boost be if it were fitted to a 4G63? And I'm guessing since it's smaller, it'll start boosting really fast and would be easier to control for 3 PSI, right?

It's fine. I have a guy that can make me headers for real cheap :)

The wastegate actuator on it opens at 8psi. It'll spool fast yes, but honestly 2-3psi would be near impossible. IDK how you'd attain boost that low to be honest. The N/T 4G63 can handle way more than 2-3lbs even from a 16G. If you're gonna try to throw boost at the stock ECU and stock injector combo, you're gonna have a bad time. If you've got a turbo ECU and 450cc injectors, just throw like 11+ lbs at it. It'll handle it and should rip pretty decently. Like a mid-low 200hp at the wheels turbo is what it is.

I have Speeduino successfully running on it with 240 cc stock GTi-16V injectors.

I wanna see if I can manually have the wastegate half-open or something. Would delay boost up until high RPM.

A different choice would be to have an electronic blow-off valve controlled by the ECU. Like when it slowly reaches the set boost, it starts to open up the valve.

Also, because I live at high altitude, typically my air inlet pressure is around 82-86 kPa, so not even a full bar of atmospheric pressure. And like this I'm running about 55% injector duty cycle at red line max. I think I have plenty of headroom and if needed, I can get slightly fatter injectors.
