Identify this diff

Bought a parts car, was a drag car that was stolen, missing parts. I bought the aftermath.

I need to identify the rear diff.

It reads B1U (LSD) 4 bolt, but I cannot find anything that is that code! It's an original sticker.

It is an auto swapped car Originally manual. I'm wanting to swap the rear diff with my 3 bolt before it snaps!

I didn't take a picture, it looks like any 1g 4bolt diff. But it's a B1U code.. I have never seen or heard of that.

I'm wanting to find out since I'm building a car with a 3 bolt currently. Add I know it won't last

I can't see this specific "B1U" diff being referenced anywhere on the net after a quick search, but I think based on the results, that 'B1x' diffs only come on 1G DSMs, and 'BFx' come on 2Gs. The auto 1G DSM should be a 'B1H', which is the 4 bolt viscous LSD. So this could mean that non-viscous 4 bolt diffs on a manual 1G are labeled 'B1U'. Would help if someone with such a configuration could confirm with a pic.

It does sad it's LSD and B1U is for sure the code. That's why I'm stumped on what's going on

I have a spare 3 bolt and a spare 4 bolt, I will check the codes on them when I get home from work today.

So is your rearend a 1G or 2G? My son has a 2G AWD Auto car I could check.

It's probably the ultra elusive JDM Drift Yamamoto rear end. It's considered the best simply because it was made in Japan. JK, I have some diffs at the house and I'll check tonight.

All 4 of mine, 3 bolt and 4, are B17. Sorry I couldn't solve the mystery

If this is a drag car then the code on the diff might not necessarily be the best indicator of what's inside it. Open it up and count the teeth on the respective gears, only way to be 100% sure. The thread linked above has all the teeth counts in it.

Ring gear tooth count ÷ Pinion gear tooth count = axle ratio
