I want to learn how to tune my car with the stand alone AEM EMS unit. I don't care about being certified and I don't plan on using one on my car soon. I'm just really interested in learning how to tune 4g63 mototrs or anything really and since the AEM EMS is the biggest tool for tuning cars I want to learn how to use it. Does anyone know of any manuals, books, DVD's, etc... on how to use one? I apprecate any advice.

Well you can always start off with learning the basics of tuning cars if you already do not know them. Learn about open loop vs closed loop, long term fuel trims vs short term fuel trims. Next is to learn about ideal a/f ratios. Like what idle and wot should be around with pump gas vs race gas, e85, meth. These are just some one the basic knowledge you must have before you can even start to think about tuning a car. The best way is to work with cars and see how minor adjustments change how the car runs (in other words trial and error). Id start off with dsmlink (even though you want to use AEM), and leanr the basics from there. It is more user friendly and is a good start. Once you master the concept of tuning, you can then try to go onto something like AEM. The tools both programs have are similair, however they could be called differnt names and look different in the software.

Hope this answers some of your questions. Best bet is to READ READ and READ more.

Read the .pdf files that come when you download AEMPro on your laptop then start tuning. This is what I have done. I grabbed a friend of mine and we started pooring over the manuals and reading everything we could find out. On friday after I got the car back we plugged in the laptop and started tuning. The software is EASY to use and after a couple of hours of doing a rolling tune my GSX runs even better. (Lower EGTs, Better Startup, Better Idle, even fuel delivery in all gears at all off-boost rpms).
