Found a N1 downpipe on Dsmtrader.com. Me and this guy talked it all over and it was cool, i was going ot pay him 150 bucks shipped from kalamazoo michigan to my house. Well I set up a paypal account, sent the money he sent me an email saying "its out". I havent heard back from him since its been a week and a half hes not responding to any of my emails, im clueless of what to do. I checked my bills and hes already zapped it out of my account or paypal did, so he already has the money. Am i sh*t out of luck??? Is there anything paypal can do??? Let me know if you have any ideas, thanks guys--Tony

I believe you can file with Paypal that you have not recieved any package and they will take action for you.

i got scammed to but i got the product i bought a 1g TB from dsmtrader and everythng went good it was almost 4 weeks nothen i must of wrote like 50 emails so i filled a complinat on paypal and u ONLY have 30 days i sent it on the 27th day and they got it freezed his account and the next week i got the TB so i would just wait another week then fill that form out

i know i can contact them within 30days of the transaction, but im not wanting to fight with the guy and file suits and have to wait and be accountable for having to check the status of the fight every day. I bet theres not a good chance i can get my money back.

Well you in bad position, since you made the biggest mistake there is...you paid via checking account. It's more or less like sending him M.O. or cash...it is instant cash. It's also known that dsmtrader is full of scammers. Always use Credit card while paying via Paypal. Paypal is very much useless when it gets to scam recovery. If you would have used CC all you would have to do is call ur carrier and dispute the charges, you would be done. Now ur in for long run-around....

BTW do you know the guys address....i know there are few people from that area that visit these boards and might drop in on the guy and see what's up...

No, it will automatically deduct the money from your checking account that you used for the setup portion of paypal (once confirmed) for however much the payment is supposed to be for.

no im sorry i meant credit card, i forgot we used my fathers credit account. We had planned on using my checking account, but for some reason we just used his.. And it sounds like through all of these scams, ive got a good chance with getting my money back... I will wait untill mid next week and see what happens, if i receive nothing then i will contact them and send this ass a nice little email
Oh btw thanks mod for the links, didnt even think of it, i guess some forget small things once we are the ones in panic, thanks man.

You have a very very good chance.
If you used your dads credit card tell him that you think the guy is being shady and you need him to call your CC company to "dispute payment". That should get the ball rolling a little faster also you should email the person you bought it from and tell him your "disputing payment" unless you see the pipe in 3-5 days MAX or a tracking number within 24 hours.


That's what I would do in your case.

:thumbdown: no i never got the money back, th ecredit card company even said it was unlikely but to give them 6-8 weeks to try and get in touch, its been 5 weeks. Nah hes not worth it, I bought the part from a real company this time, so yeah i basically paid 375 bucks for a downpipe that i should have gotten for 225 in the first place. Oh well life's a bi***. The F*ker will get his......

I do have his name and adress but theres nothing anyone can really do legally unless i wen to the cops and then i'd need to pay fees for court and all kinds of BS thats not worth $150 bucks.

Actually, if you file a complaint (Theft), the police will visit him with papers for a court date.

At that court setting, he'll either say guilty (in which case, he HAS to pay you, and the court fees), or he'll say not-guilty (in which case, if you so decide to continue the charges, it will go to small claims trial).

In either case, it won't cost you anything to file a complaint against the guy. Having the police show up at your door is usually enough to scare the money out of anyone.

We have these kinds of calls all the time. "so and so stole this, or that, blah blah".

I'd say 90% of the time, we get the property / cash is returned on the scene.
