Ok here is the weird stuff my friend calls and said his car died and would not start. said it just spun really fast. figured he snapped the timing belt and bent some valves. drive to the car pop the hood and check it out. timing belt was still on so i set it to tdc and its dead on. so we towed it back to the garage and run a compression test 50psi all cylinders. so decide to pull the head get the valve cover off and find all the exhaust rockers just laying in there. and all the intake side is fine. pulled the head and every exhaust valve bent to crap. but intake side was fine. my question is how is this possible. everytime i have bent valves it was both intake and exhaust.:confused::confused:

Timing belt failure. Check the belt on the crank sproket. The teeth probably sheered off.

that would be a one in a million if it spun 180 or 360 but it is possible i guess. the tensioner seems ok

nope no cam gears basically it a stock motor with a evo3 16g and thats about it no major mods

yup all timing marks are dead on thats why i said weird it is the weirdist shit i have ever seen.

I would check the dowel pin on the exhaust cam again. If that's not it, maybe the harmonic balancer slipped too, and the mark is not where it appears to be.

It's also possible your friend held the RPMs at 9000 and floated all the valves into the pistons?

it had to of jumped timing because there is no other way it could of bent the valves
besides valve float

he was doing 25 or 30mph off of an exit and the car just died and would just crank really fast. nope no parking lot with snow we dident get any snow here yet. and i doubt he hit 9000 his mom was in the car and she would have kicked his a** for it LOL. he just told me he was coasting after the car died and he tried to kick start it if that says anything .

nope did not figure out what caused it we tore it all down and put a new head on it everything else looked fine just every exhaust valve was bent and the intakes were fine. just another dsm mystery LOL
