I have a 1994 talon n/t 6 bolt , and I was driving to work on the highway and my car started to cut out like crazy to where I had to drive off to the side of the road. I popped my hood to see coolant squirting out of the hose that goes to my throttle body. If the throttle body is not getting any coolant could that cause my car to cut out like crazy and not do anything but sputter when i give it gas? I haven't had a chance to look at it further yet since work has me busy, but hopefully I'll get it figured out this weekend. If you have any ideas based on the information I have given let me know, thanks. And this problem is new and was completely random.

Not 100% on this but Im pretty sure that there shouldn't be any coolant going to your throttle body. If you've got coolant going to your throttle body then you most likely have some sort of head problem. Did you happen to notice if the car was running hot while doing this? Also check to see if you have oil and coolant mixing in your radiator or your crankcase by checking your oil dipstick. If you notice it in your radiator or your oil is a milky gray color then you have blown your head gasket my friend. I would also check to make sure that your thermostat is working properly and opening as it should. I hope this helps ya out.

i had the same problem, the line broke and squirted anti freeze everywhere, but mine didnt stutter at all or anything, maybe the coolant just saturated a sensor and maybe it short out causing the stuttering

yes there is supposed to be coolant going to the TB theres a line off the back of the T-stat housing and then it goes to the pipe which leads to the heater core, i don't think its as drastic as a blown HG

Ah ok. I haven't really dealt with the 1g cars only 95 and up so sorry about that. I am still learning this stuff myself so the info is helpful. Yes hopefully it isnt as bad as a head gasket or anything of the sort. Hopefully it's an easy fix and it's back on the road this weekend. Good luck with it

Most-all car's to include Mitsubishi's have coolant going to the T/B. (think throttle body d-ice). A blown head gasket can pressurize your system and pop a line at its weakest point. I hope its not, and the hole in your line is a coincidence.

Sounds like you just need to reattach or replace that line and reconnect and re-fill lost coolant. Probably not a big deal.

Well I actually drove it home today. We reconnected the hose to the t/b and refilled it with coolant. On the way home my car didn't smoke or overheat at all. But a few times it did cut out and sputter when I gave it gas. As long as I stayed with it and downshifted and kept giving it a little gas it would kick back to full power. I'm not to smart with cars but the first few things that come to mind for me is maybe a o2 sensor, maybe th coils going bad, or something is up with my cam angle sensor. Any more ideas? And my oil was clean as a whissle.

Definately shouldn't be the o2 sensor because the default for when they go bad is for car to run very rich which should not hurt drivability at all.

ISC motors are known to go bad on these cars and i believe that's what controls idle speed after car is warmed up.

Get a datalogger for like $75 or less and you'll be able to get a read on all sensors. It will save you a fortune in replacing goods parts guessing at what's wrong and save you a ton of time.

Open ecu and inspect capacitors.

Sounds like either a relay or your ECU is crapping out on you and the hose was just a coinky dink. Nothin about that would cause your symptoms and many run those lines looped with no such issues. (such as myself)
