Hey there everyone I was just in the hangout and i found the "immigration?" tread closed now and i was really kinda sad and mad after reading everything because of the minds of some of you. I am going to share with you guys my personal story just to see if it makes some of you think or at least see what some of us are facing. My name is joel i was born in mexico some part i cant even pronounce the name, well anyway my parent brought me here when i was 2 years old and sure enougf we all came illegally and been here ever since allready graduated high school and attending college, AND I LOVE America and i consider it my home. So my question is like many of you said <<"There are legal ways to get into this country. So yes I support harsher penalties to people that are entering illegally" ," Illegal is illegal no matter how you cut it and people doing illegal activites get penalized", "I wish they had tougher Illegal Immigrant laws">> SHOULD I BE TREATED EXACTLY LIKE ALL OF YOU JUST SAID? i am aware that i am not here legally and also it was not my choice nor did i have an opinion I was a kid for crying out loud, but i dont think i should be treated like a crimminal, I just think that all of you should consider and think of people like me maybe that did not chose to come here. I am not trying to start a big argument or anything i just was kinda bummed after reading that tread.

I'm 100% Hispanic. I have read many racist comments earlier about the immigrant thread and to continue this is very dumb and will lead to problems.

Okay flat out, you don't have the right to live here. All the illegal immigrants crying about being an illegal immigrant as a felony, saying you want to live here. YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE HERE. You aren't a citizen so you have no rights to this country, that's flat out the law.

I don't care how sad the story is, why someone came here illegally. It's still illegal and that is no life to live knowing that if you get caught, you're going right back where you came from, even worse off because you have been gone for so long.

The ways to get citizenship in the US is marriage, or get hired by a company up here.

Honestly, if someone can't contribute to this country citizen or not, latino, american, i don't care you don't deserve to live here. Americans who don't pay their taxes are the same. You don't help this country out you don't get the right to live here. Goes for anyone.

And if people are going to illegally immigrate to the US, don't complain about the government, how shitty you get treated, where you live, what you make. You made the choice, and you also have no voice. You can't vote, nothing. That's why all the illegals complaining about it, will change nothing. The government doesn't want illegal immigrants in this country, and a bunch of illegal immigrants aren't going to change their opinions.

On a more serious note though, I personally think if one truly wants to be an American (not just live here for the benefits), they will become a citizen.

I am part Hispanic myself and my father and his mother came here from Cuba. They became US citizens (although my Dad was actually a US born abroad because his father was in US Navy).

Anyway, people will do what they do, but I think if you truly want to be an American, you'll become one. Many people come here illegally for the benefits and don't want the hassle of becoming a citizen. I don't quite agree with that. But at the same time, people saying these people are "taking all of our jobs"....that's BS. And if an illegal immigrant that may not even speak English gets the job over you (whether it be because he will take lower pay or not), that's pretty sad for you. You should be able to find a better job if you're so high and mighty.

I think this country worries more about every other countries' problems before our own. The US shells out tons of money to help other countries when we have people/kids living on the streets. Sure, some choose to do so, but there are a lot of people/kids that have no choice.

The reason you/whoever left your country was because of the living conditions...no money, repression...so you are going to come over here and turn this country into your old one? Think about it, your illegal, your going to make crap which means you will not have such good living conditions, we are already trying to make it tougher on you, ect.....

Why?? Because when illegals come into this county they more than likely are not paying any taxes/contributing, other than doing the crap jobs nobody really wants to do. When you or your kids go to the hospital...I pay for it. When you buy food...I'm paying for some of that too. I'm subsidizing your life in this country and I'm tired of paying for your a$$. Do it legal and really contribute, not just come over for the benifits.
