The title really says it all. My Talon's paintjob is really bad, like it barely looks good from about 45 feet away. Eventually when I'm out of college and working I'll have enough money for a nice paintjob from a paint shop, but for now I have to fix this somehow, and I have a couple of ideas:

I'd also like to get my car wrapped. However, I've heard from several people that you need to sand and paint the car before you wrap it. So should I paint the car myself instead of plasti-dipping it?

I watched Donut Media's videos about plasti-dipping, and that doesn't look like a terrible option honestly. 500-ish dollars and a lot of sweat and tears seem to get the job done right. What do some of our DSM paint experts think about that? Does the "sand and paint" method that applies to vinyl wraps also apply to plasti-dipping? (my assumption is yes)

Watch YouTube. There are PLENTY of videos about wrapping. I want to wrap both my DSMs in the future, so Ive been doing some digging. ParadoxTheWrapper talks about it in his vids here and there. The only obvious one you need to do is body work, you don't HAVE to but why would you not and have a wrapped car with dents? As far as paint...it just depends on the condition of the paint you are wrapping. From what Ive gathered, is if the clearcoat is peeling or weak, its not recommend to wrap over because the wrap wont adhere properly. If you still do it, expect all the clear coat and paint to come off with the wrap once its removed. The adhesive on most wraps is very strong, especially once it sits in the sun.

Also the cost of wrap is 500-800 depending on the color. If you do it yourself youll only be spending the cost of the wrap and tools and probably a weeks time of work. If you plan on paying someone...youll be looking to spend 1500-4k depending on the wrap the person is using, and the labor involved.
