My Vinyl Paint!

Yeah, cause my first time. I just wiped the door panels down... and you could take your finger nail and scratch the paint off!

but just like he said, light sanding.... nothing thats going to just eat up the vinyl or the texture. Just to roughen up the surface so the paint will stick.

Thanks! Yeah I love the gauges! They were originally in my lovely 98... but I was fast enough and striped that car bare before they took it from me.

If you like this stuff, keep tabs on some of my other work that should be exploding here in the next few months. Full reconstruction of a 2GB!

a light sanding (not enough to ruin the factory texture marks).

Oh ok, that's what I wanted to avoid. I could do that, but right now I have more pressing matters. A bolt got into my timing belt and crank sprocket and destroyed the belt and crank sprocket as well as making it jump timing

So... so your in more crap then I am.. I got a car that never had its timming belt changed... and the timming belt snapped and bent two valves...

Back on topic...

I just completed my interior this weekend. Unlike Infinite, I started out with all grey interior and have only painted the lower half black. As mentioned before I used Krylon Fusion for all the hard ABS plastic peices. I went with Satin Black which kinda gives it a wet "just armor all'd" look which looks very nice. Although it turned out great (pictures will come in the future), next time I might choose to use Krylon Fusion Flat Black because I usually don't keep my stock grey dashboard armor all'd all the time (i might have to start). Everything turned out great and all i did to prep and thouroghly cleaned off each part with some Simple Green.

Now... I did run into the problem of what to do with the center console armrest. Seeing as how it is vinyl, I knew i did not want to use the Fusion. So I picked up a can of the Duplicolor Vinyl/Fabric Gloss Black and grabbed the rest of the Duplicolor Vinyl/Fabric Flat Black and test sprayed an old passenger side airbag that I had laying around. The Duplicolor Gloss black matched up PERFECTLY with the Krylon Satin Black, but I'd have to agree w/ Infinite that the Duplicolor Flat Black does look more stock and after seeing how good the test piece went, makes me want to tear my entire grey dash out and paint it along with the rest of my door panels that are still grey.

On a side note, when I prepped the armrest I didn't use any sanding, although I should've, I just used the Simple Green and made sure the any and all sweat/dirt/armor all had been cleaned out of the tiny recesses in the texture. IT TURNED OUT GREAT!! But, for anyone else, sanding would be recommended.

I'm thinking that I'll be painting the perforated leather in the center section of my back seats now with the Duplicolor Vinyl/Fabric paint after seeing the results of the rest of my interior. This will only be temporary since I plan on having the rear seats upholstered to match my headliner and door panel inserts.

I used Krylon fusion a while back on my GT Fiero. For plastic peices its great! But getting the proper color is a pita cause its such an out there paint... But good job!
