I was wondering.....paint?or vinyl?

I was wondering if a I should use paint or vinyl?I did this to a pic off this site with paintshop pro.I'm talking about the 1ga turn signal mod I did?

get a read dark vynal where the light won't shine through it...
because i think the light will shine threw the paint(ive seen painted eyelids on neons and stuff and the light shines threw it)

and for the dsmtuners.com also use vynal cause paint will cost alooot more...
