I'm installing my new MDP sensor and I'm not sure where it goes and how to find it, other than looking for a similar looking object on the intake manifold. Pics would help me out very much!

The manifold differential pressure sensor is on the top of the intake manifold. Never posted a picture before, but here it goes....

Awsome pic! thanks man, that really helps me. I'm going to put it on tomorrow and see how things go. THanks Again

I replaced my MDP sensor twice and it did not solve my problem. The car still cant hold idle and dies if it goes below 1K rpms. I'm pulling code p1400 and i dont want to bring it in to the mechanic just yet. Is there any other steps i can take to diagnose my problem with regular tools.

What does the map(mdp)sensor do i found out mine was broke? Will it keep the car from starting or from getting spark.because i cant figure out what the hell is wrong with my 4g63t and i've replaced crank and cam sensor...can u help me????

MDP sensors wont cause any problems other than a CEL from my understanding. 2g guys that do 6-bolt swaps often just keep the sensor just dangling somewhere due to the fact that there is no spot to put one on a 1g intake (unless you buy a relocation kit). I have a CEL on my 6-bolt swap which is the only reason I'm replacing mine.

Yes, many people often refer to the MDP (Manifold Differential Pressure) as a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) which is incorrect, its also true that turbo 4g63's(2g only) do not have a MAP, it is a MDP. Non turbo have the MAP sensors. These cannot be inter-changeable.

I put a MAP sensor on my 2g 6 bolt, and wired it into the MDP sensor harness. Although it's just so i can log actual boost in dsmlink. Which i recommend anybody do that can, it's such a convenience.

On topic though, it is simply used to see if the EGR is working. If you have eliminated your EGR system, then there is no need for it, and it won't keep your car from running.

No, it won't keep the car from getting spark.

Have you tested your coil pack? Have you tested/replaced your spark plug wires?

well i've replaced the plugs and wires but not the coils because i really dont think that both coil packs would go out at the same time plus it doesnt have fuel pressure either.the car turns over but doesnt start.i started out by replacing the crank and camshaft sensor and i found out the map sensor was broke so i replaced it and it still doesnt have spark or fuel pressure.so i have finally ran out of what it could be...does anybody have any advise???

Have you checked all your fuses? It might be a long shot, but it's at least something.

You can also check out this tech article:

ya i've checked all the fuses and searched the the whole engine bay for loose wires or something unhooked and i found nothing..the only thing i havent done is replaced the ecu or coil packs but im not get fuel or fire so it ###### is something electrical..is there anything else it could be before i replace the ecu???
