I am hoping someone can tell me exactly what I need to do from where I am at.
I appolagize for another post about upgrade paths, but none are really specific. I want this to be a pure street leagal track car...not for drag, just a course...but would like to smoke the riceys in a 1/4 mile if needed :)

I have a 96 Talon with under 40K
What I have so far, I will be honest and say I am on a tight budget, but don't want to cut corners either (don't want it to bite me in the a$$ later)

ADR GT wheels and Toyo Proxy ZR4 tires (no nothing about offset and all that)

coilovers (not the cheapest but definately not eibach either)

Cheap BOV off of ebay with no recirculation ( looking for a 1g bov)

cheap but large FMIC piped with 2 1/2 " pipe (currently using the stock flange cut out and couplinged into the upper pipe.

The intercooler pipe comes out of the turbo and makes an EXTREME 180 degree turn that I am thinking is not helping me any, but I didn't see any other path at the time with what I had.

Safc II installed but set to 0 across the board (stock)

stock boost controller

NGK 8mm plug wires and copper plugs

Aftermarket boost gauge and A/F ratio gauge although I don't think that is acurate by any means

the main reason I have not went any further is because of money and I was working on the interior which is all custom now :) got the seats in but no 5pt harnesses yet...any suggestions on that?

I once had manuall BC but on lowest setting it shot my boost to peaking at 23lbs!!!!!!

I would like a digital BC...probably profec B

I also want everything to be clean and not hacked up.

Oh and I do have aftermarket filter (cheap e bay) but stock intake tube

So hopefully someone can tell me how to make a 300-350 hp track car that will spool fast and not take my life savings :)

also I am not mechanicly stupid, but not able to do internals and such

Thanks for the help in advance

Lol ya well maybe someone can just explain the cheapest way...not saying I want it perfect for under a thousand bucks...just saying I don't want to spend 10k in a month ...even though I would like to I can't

1st 3 I can think of looking at what you posted..

Some form of data logging.
Wideband O2
Finnaly put that Recirculation Tube back on that BOV!

Fix Boost leaks,

Log it, post the Log file. Take advice given.
Finaly tune it!

I'll Bet you will find All kinds of Performance. :thumb:

Ok thats kinda what I figured to start with. What exactly does a wideband O2 do? is it kinda like a data logger or something? I have no experiance with any of that kinda stuff...where is the best place to get one and how is it installed?

Thanks

Well. Some of them datalog. The innovative LC-1 has data logging capabilities while being used with another system.

SAFC makes adjustments to the A/F ratio. The wideband tells you where you are too lean or too rich. Thats why a good wideband like the innovative is nice because to can store logs with conjunction with your datalogger, you can use the safc to lean out or richen up.

Buy a palm pilot, and the mmcd sofware and the cable. About 200 bucks for that. A good wideband is 300, and 200 or cheaper for a good used safc.

The data logger will tell you where to richen up or lean out. You need it. Absolutely. There is no way around it. Unless you dont want your engine anymore.

And please, i know ebay is good for certain things. But don't buy your stuff off of ebay. There are a ton of vendors that help keep this site running that have awesome prices, and much better support. :thumb:

Buddy, look into some of the older Vendor announcements, there are Quite a few that have done group buys on the AEM Wideband. Call and ask for a price. you might be suprised at how cheap they will go...

Data logger. Its as simple as a ebay palmpilot, cable and the software. can be bought for well under 75$ Heck check the Classifieds here at DSMtuners! :thumb:
I honestly don't see you paying over 300 for the Wideband, palmpilot, cable and software (which is free).
Do some more reading here. Aka the coveted "search" feature. :thumb: on Data loggers and tuning with SAFC. there are literaly Thousands of threads!

not planning on buying anymore e bay garbage...just giving examples...ok so If I buy the data logger can i eleminate the O2 widebang?

I know people who live without them. :thumb: Just, make sure in the future, you get one. It will save your life, and car.

ok so let me get this straight (been reading) If I get the LC-1 wideband then all I need from there is a cable and palm pilot? and some sort of software that I imagine comes with the wideband?
