Hey guys I just replaced my clutch after 182,xxx miles with the factory set still in there! I put a unsprung ACT 6 puck and extreme duty pressure plate and etc.

When we had it in and did the mandatory stuff, I drove it and jesus christ! I made the mistake of buying unsprung! But anyway do the 6 pucks have a break in period because every time I let off, it is like me launching the damn car.

Another thing, every time I depress the clutch pedal, I can hear the TOB making some noise, it isn't any grinding of some sort, it is just making a hum. If I have the pedal depressed for a bit, it will go away. So just so you guys know, I've only been driving the car with the new clutch for only a day. So does it need a breaking period to stop its harsh engagement?

Thanks guys for reading and helping!

puck clutches are always less forgiving then a regular street disc setups.

Did you grease you TOB before reinstalling it? is it a OEM throw out bearing?

What do you mean less forgiving? I did grease the TOB and the area where it slides side to side on and the TOB came with the ACT kit so I guess if the plate and disk are heavy duty, the TOB has to be to right?

A puck clutch is less streetable than a normal disk clutch, aka less forgiving - it makes it a little more difficult to get used to/drive. You always need to have a break-in period on any new clutch, which I'm sure you knew. The TOB, I would give it some time to see if the sound ever goes away. If it is a new unit and you are sure you installed it correctly, I wouldn't worry about it.

Unsprung disc = on/off switch The clutch is never going to be forgiving whatsoever. They also tend to break things from the harsh engagement. Definitely not something I would want to drive everyday.:nono:
