I fully understand that all of you true DSMers may flame me, but being 17 years old and my 97 eclipse being my first car...I want a more custom look. For a more custom front bumper should I buy the Stillen front bumper or the Drifter? I really like both but I want to stay away from being a "ricer" Both of them don't look too ricey and i'm torn between the two.

Stillen or Drifter? I would add pictures but i'm new to this forum stuff and don't know how...sorry and thanks for you input!

I'd say 9/10 people are against body kits. More than likely the responses you will get are to keep the car clean and tastefully modify it. Ie: front lip, nice wheels, tint, lower...

Oh okay, could you guys link me to an awesome front lip? Like I said I want to go for a more custom look, I already have some 18 inch rims and low profile tires, tint, and a custom sound system...Later down the road I want to get the stock GST spoiler (since mine is only a slow GS), fresh paint and tint job, and lower a few inches. Since it's my first car I really want to make it look awesome but not stupid (if that makes any sense LOL) And what else could I do to my car to make it "stand out" of the crowd? Thanks!

With either of those aftermarket bumpers, it will stand out, but not in a good way

You can check out some urethane front lips, but there is a thread on here somewhere of a DIY front lip using garage door trim (I think) from Home Depot or something. Looks pretty decent for the price (~$20)

Just an idea.

^:applause: I didn't even attempt to look at the bumpers LOL... IMO, If you want to stand out, put the car on a nice stance (ride height) with a fresh (new) paint job, tint and a front lip. Carbon fiber front lip and hood are very nice and will help you "stand out"... Good luck

okay sweet, sorry if this is off topic but.....lowering springs or coilovers for my ride?

I went though a phase like you, well still do in some ways with my Eclipse were I want it to look different than stock. I bought an R34 stlye bumper and ended up hacking it up to fit as a front lip for the stock bumper thats still not finished.

I will have to agree with everyone above the best look for these cars is the stock look and maybe a set of EVO8 rims. Put your money were it matters, into the motor.

I have a 420a and I rather make my GS nice and then sell it and get an average gst or gsx

Being only a few years older than you I feel you knockin bro. Personally its your car do whatever you want to it. I always did stuff to my car when I was 17 and got shit from my dad all the time. I think as long as your car represents you in a way you like than your good to go. I've never really cared what people think another me of my car, but its whatever creams your twinkie.

* of me or my car

I got my car when I was younger as well and wanted it to "look fast", but ended up ripping things out and modding incorrectly. I still have the same DSM and now I am going back over a lot of things and regretting how I went about things. The method I will always follow is KISS (Keep It Simple). The cleanest DSM's are usually those with exterior mods that are subtle.

There are "OE" bumpers on eBay that can be had for pretty cheap. They leave out the molding for the Mitsu symbol so you have more of a shaved look. I personally like the 2GB bumper with the Cupra R lip.

Here is what im thinking now!!!
Fresh black paint (my car is already black)
Fresh tint to match the black paint (my windows are tinted but not enough i want)

Home depot front lip
lowered 1.5-2inches
new exhaust system (to make my car sound faster than it is LOL)
GST spoiler
Carbon fiber seibon hood (maybe)
Maybe black out my tail lights!?!?
I dont need new rims because right now I have some 18 inch chrome rims and everyone compliments my ride just because of those.

I think I will have the nicest eclipse in my area if i do it this way and not the body kit custom look...any other ideas guys!?!

Sounds like a good start. Similair to how I had my first 2G NT. Do it once, and do it right. I had mine for 6 years and I still thought it looked amazing. :sneaky:

Okay i just made a profile picture so you guys could see how it looks now. What do you guys think of my rims? i think they are pretty ### and look like flower petals, but everyonce ina while i get a compliment at the gas station and stuff so idk hahaha

I assume this picture is before you have put anything you've talked about previously. First I would personally drop of a couple inches, it changes the whole look of the car( my Megan lowering springs are on the way) the rims you have on in my opinion looks like rims someone would slap on an escalade. ( no offense intended to anyone ) but ive seen worse. Did you find that forum on the " home depot lip' I havent had luck in finding it.

Nevermind here's the link to the DIY bumper lip. It looks ok I guess. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...leaner-less-ricer-better-looking-diy-lip.html

okay im researching those megan lowering springs i think i will get those for lowering my car...but does lowering your car 2 inches create more of a hassel than your satisfaction of having your car look cool?

Camber kit is a yes, only reason I haven't got one is because my mom works at a tire co. So j get the hook up Haha. And what if your talking about how comfortable your ride is as being a "hassle" like 99eclipse said it depends on how you like your ride. Personally I want to feel like I'm in a Mitsubishi eclipse not a john deer Haha. That's just me.
