 Chill dude its alright DSM's are made for people to develop patience and control anger problems. I put in my car around $4000 and had it for almost 3 years , but in those 3 years i put 5000miles a year because all the other time it was in my garage or in a shop. Thats ok :dsm: thats the "best" part of owning a DSM. Slowly you become your own backyard mechanic and respect your car more than ever. i hate my car but at the same time i love it so much , its so much fun to drive and spank those  american :tease: V8's mustangs etc. We are all here for you bro. Forever :dsm: (ps. there should be a DSM bible ) LOL

Im thankful that I never had anymajor problems with mine.

Half of the problems come with an aging platform. You gotta think that the car youre buying was last made in 1999.

It's all in the maintenance and not abusing your car. I never had a major problem on mine. I bought it new and I took care of it from day one. I regret lowering it, and should stop modding it.

Hey I tell ya what, Ive owned my car for 3 years now and its been in the shop well over a year and a half of it. But in my opinion after the two transmission failures, the fuel cut problem, the axles going out, and upgrading it from time to time, it is the coolest thing in my life and for that chance to go flying around in it and just having fun, its all worth it. I have a 97 gsx and even though Ive had my problems, Im about to buy a second one. They are just to awesome to let go. DSM's while having a reputation of breaking also have a reputation of being on a very high podium of fast and awesome cars in the modified sports cars world. Do yourself a favor relax and keep it, you wont regret it.

Speaking of which, I'm looking at picking up a 1G GS-T. Better gas mileage... cruise at 65 at under 2500 rpm, instead of 3000 like the GSX. Not to mention the longer legs and stronger pull while playing around on the freeway.

And we already have a DSM bible. It's called the shop manuals. :D

This car is like a drug to me... it is so much fun to drive, but when things go wrong all hell breaks loose. I just put $2000 into this car. New clutch, flywheel, water pump, timing belt, accesory belts, brake pads, calipers, rotors, suspension... every damn thing!!! I mean you name it, I replaced it!!! And it just seems that when I may be getting back to a normal working semi-reliable car that something just has to go wrong!!! I just needed to vent about this BS... and I hope Im not the only one that feels this way, but I just cant help think that Im wasting so many hours on this car and tons of money for more problems to come up!!! Damn I am so f*cking sick of this car!!!

So what you are saying is that as things went wrong you ignored them and then waited until the last second to replace everything at once because you refused to do regular maintenance on your car. Yah, that cars a total piece of shit.

Why did you need a new flywheel? Because you kept driving it while it was metal to metal contact?
And the rotors also? You told yourself "oh the brakes are feeling wierd, ahh screw it"

I'm being a dick, but this is BS, you beat the crap out of your car and never maintained it, so its the cars fault.

The clutch went out in my car and while I was replacing that I decided to put on a bunch of new parts as well... doesnt mean i waited for everything else to give too LOL.. Regardless, this car is a royal pain in the ass.

Dsms arent all bad. Personally, when my car breaks (95 talon tsi awd) i look at it as a chance for an upgrade. And upgrading means new parts and new parts are usually something to draw motivation from. Also, remember that dsms are a labor of love. They take TIME, MONEY, PATIENCE, and some serious MAINTAINCE. You learn to love them for what they are or hate them out of frustration. I work on mine consistantly and run it pretty hard, rarely having problems...

wish i could say the same about my car man. I have put over 20k into it and time and time again, something comes loose, another stripped motor mount, it never ends. Now I am finally getting my car out of the shop after one year and tens of thousands of dollars later; only to know that there is something making a loud ticking noise in the tranny at high rpms:confused:  :coy: :( :barf: :barf:

It's a non-turbo with a turbo. The tranny probably was not setup for that kind of power....

It's all about planning and preperation. I have $1200 into my car. It's reliable and around 200 hp. Sure I want to upgrade, but not at the price of fixing it all the time. Leave it stock and she'll do me fine...With good routine maintenance..

I run a 300 hp limited late model on a circle track every week. you have to put in the time or stuff will break. Same thing applies in real world, except somebody isn't trying to crash you on the road....
Trust me. doing this stuff for the street is easy.....

I hate DSMs. I really, truly hate DSMs. I rounded up all the items I need for a quick, smooth turbo install and NOTHING has gone right. The first day was FULL of bullshit rust and required either A) Hacksaw B) Sawz all C) Dremel or D) hitting with a hammer for things to be removed.
So that was finally out of the way, off to install the manifold and downpipe. Okay, we position the manifold, and hop under the car to fit things up. Well, as always, these ####ing ### ass cars won't be easy for you. My AC Charger is in the way, alond with the lines. So, no AC due to turbo. Feul pump was a PITA. Such a shitty horrible design that you cant properly tighten the return line without kinking it. Not to mention you need a vice on CONSTANT pressure to keep the return line from snapping back into the hole. Yeah, have fun with that shit in 103 degree weather. Try holding a vice grip as hard as you can while unbolting the pump housing, bracket, and pulling the pump out. Oh wait you couldnt do it without wrapping the damn grips with some hardcore wire or another arm.

Okay, things take time and sometimes don't go smooth. So let go to the oil pan and finish the lines up. Oh, thats right, you need an adjustable hand to reach 3/12 bolts for this. Requiring you to remove the lower roll/sway bar to screw in 2 oil pan bolts. Oh shit thats right the sway/roll bar is RUSTED ALL TO HELL. well, now we have to re-tap the under the car into the frame. So we get the pan on and now the bulkhead fiting was improperly tapped into my oil pan. now we needed to move the WELDED fitting to the right about 2 inches. some cutting, tapping, and welding yet again.

So, the downpipe needs to be custom made, whcih will require my car being towed to a muffler shop on top of that. All we have left are boost conttroller, BOV, FMU, and oil lines. Which of course, will probably take more time due to my car being so ghey.

Lets go fit the intercooler shall we. Okay, got it mounted fine, sturdy as steel, let's hook up the plumbing., I bought a pre-made piping kit for $150 specifically for the occasion. Of course, NONE of the pipes fit because the asshole who sold them to me has a SMIC, rather then the FMIC, which I had been told it was for. After scratching our heads a good hour and fitting some pipes, we finally came to the conclusion we need 4" exptensions on each side of the lower cold pipes, a 5" extened pipe on the hot pipe behind my radiator, and a custom made U bend shaped kind of like a telephone. More cutting welding, fitting.

Now I've heard of measure twice and cut once, but this is re-####ing-diculous. MY friends and now myself officially hate my car. Sorry abotu the rant, im just fed up with all the bullshit this is taking. People have put kits on in less then 3 hours, but mine decides to be a royal pain in the ass after 2 long years of buying, research, and prep. I'm out to drink and throw a hammer at my stupid ass car... :rocks:

p.s- i will post pics when we're done. I refuse to let this car win..

Well you car is old, rusted and seized parts is to be expected. And not just on DSMs.

Your car was also non turbo from the factory, so expecting everything aftermarket to fit is just plain BS.

Good luck with the rest.

its because you dont have patience....when i work on my car, I just put on my iPod and just listen to R&B or turn on my old POS boom-box to a good Jazz station...

Patience is the key...

ah, so its not just my car either then...now I'm relieved:D your taking on somethin that i wouldnt even dare try to touch for the moment...I've had enough hell just trying to take off the front bumper, LOL..! and it took me pretty much 4 hours to change ONE damn belt...and i STILL havent put the belt on (new problems just kept on popping up....weird..)

I cannot wait until the last thing on my to do list is :

Bolt the bumper back up.

I am a master with this at this point. I OWN that shit..

at this point, I'm ready to alter the purpose of my intercooler. A screen, some green stuff, and a lighter would make a pretty cool ... device...

i am hearing a lot of crying... when you have worked on several other cars that require removing a intake manifold, half your fender well or a top mount intercooler for something simple then you can bi***. :p

Damn guys... i was thinking of picking up a GSX tomorrow for my daily driver. It's pretty modded so I don't know whether that's a bright idea. It seems that every other person has their car in the shop longer than its on the road.

What is that thing where your CAS should be?
I asked that same question, according to the guys that looked at it, it is supposed to be an adapter to fit a 4g63 CAS on it.

So are you going to blame the DSM if you somehow blow your 420A running more boost than the motor can handle? Oh please stop complaining
